This is my 1992 Isuzu pickup. Amazing what you can do on a budget of $3000.00
It was originally powered by a 2.3L 4cyl with a 5 speed manual trans. My best friend owned the truck since high school and he would always have me over his house to fix the darn thing. We actually got the stock 2.3 4zd1 Isuzu to go pretty fast. We had put in a calmini cam, Weber carb and said goodbye to most of the pollution control devices. We had it at the track after all of the mods and it would keep up with the rice boys it ran in the high 16's, not bad for a 4 banger.
But one day it blew up, my friend called me from a parking lot in south Orlando and said it looked like a gene cloud was following him down the road so he parked it. After further inspection we discovered that he blew a head gasket and most likely cracked the head by the amount of water pumping into the cylinders.
Now it was time for that V8 I joked to him. We pulled the engine about 2 months later and we saw if it was possible to fit a small block Chevy between the fender wells. I happened to have an old 400 boat anchor and some
old heads left-over from my 69 Camaro and we popped it in there with the cherry picker just to see if it would fit. And to my amazement it had a lot of room. That is my friend Dave in the picture
Well long story short a year went by and my friend could not save up enough money to get the project off the ground. His parents were sick of having the old truck taking up the garage; they were about to junk it. So I offered to take it off his hands for $100.00
I already had a V8 truck project started, an 84 s10 but darn my luck about 3 months after I got the Isuzu a tree fell on tha s10 and crushed it. So I used the engine and trans out of the crushed s10 in the Isuzu. Unfortunately, i fell on hard times and the truck had to go. I stuck it on Ebay and got $4000.00 . But now i miss that old thing i definately want to build another one in the future, but for now i have another project i need to finish first.
