I've been doing some work on the interior over the summer planning for a stereo install.. I didn't like the position of the stock radio, found it too low and on top of that, my retracting screen did not have enough space to extend out.. so... being a non smoker, I trashed the ashtray and lighter and molded in the radio. The radio stuck out so I had to construct an extension to make it look like stock. Here is a shot of my center console.. Along with the addition for the radio, I added an oil pressure & temp gauge as well as a Tranny temp to measure and keep an eye on things... the gauges sit at an angle towards the driver and the cluster is fully detachable to aid in the console's removal. You can also notice the switches near the hand brake... Audio Amps On/Off toggles. *** UPDATE - Dec 2005 *** Over the summer, I grew tired of the oil leak and the stain I always had on my undercover... so.... This winter I replaced the front crank seal as well as the oil pump drive shaft seal... Man, there is a lot of stuff to take off just to get to the seals... nothing too hard, just time consuming.. you need some special tools to replace the seals, I made these myself and saved the SST costs. I just cut some aluminum and drilled a hole at one end and bent the other end into a hook and then taped the parts to a standard hook puller. To tap the seals back in, the old seal with the crank gear or a piece of ABS tubing and a rubber hammer does the job. *** UPDATE - Jan 2006 *** I got a great deal from George over at Raptor Racing on a FPR and installed it to add some shine to the engine bay.
