Supra Turbo Targa
I just purchased this Supra, and man, I no longer want to go to work, all I want to do is drive this car... to the limit which I have not done yet.... 200Km/h and more to go as the pedal still had lots of room. TheLonerider's 1989 Toyota Supra This winter will see some rebuilds as these cars are known to have head gasket problems with stock settings. So far, the car has received Eibach Prokit, Moroso wires and Bridgestone S-03 tires... rest was just cosmetic and cleanup...some serious dirty burnt oil in the tranny and diff. *** Update *** Have begun to work in / on the engine bay. Like to give kudos to Reg Riemer of SONIC (http://www.supras.com/~riemer/sonic/sonic.htm) for some true to life Supra tips... The radiator face was full of crud like mentioned in a tech tip on his site... I was a sure candidate for a BHG.
*** Update *** It has been a while since I posted any progress on my Supra project. Well, the head came of this winter as well as the brakes. Sure enough, there was the beginning of a BHG on the exhaust side. I'm glad I caught it this early before any real damage was done. TheLonerider's 1989 Toyota Supra TheLonerider's 1989 Toyota Supra
I also took the opportunity to paint the weather beaten block and bring it back to life. Head has gone off to the shop to get resurfaced and such as well as the back brakes are off on a rebuild assignment. This gives me a chance to clean up and paint the hubs and back plates. Picked up some Brembo cross drilled and slotted rotors on eBay for dirt cheap compared to cost in a retail store. EBay has been a good source for my supra parts, would recommend to visit for price comparisons before buying from the local dealer.
