--The System--
When I got the Summit, it had only the stock Mitsu AM/FM radio. No CD. Not even a tape deck. It sucked. Obviously, I could not live like this. The first thing I did was upgrade the stock rear 6" speakers to a pair of 6" x 9" Pioneers. They are no where near the top of the line, but they sound okay. The next thing I absolutly had to fix was the lack of tunes, and overabundence of commercials, ie CD player time. I was fairly impressed with the Pioneer speakers, so I bought a Pioneer DEH-1400 deck. Once again, bottom of the line, but an improvement.
I wanted bass, so I added some subs and and amp, although once again, I went bottom line, which I have lived to regret.
A pair of 10" Kenwood KFC-W2585's, a cheap 200W Sony amp, and a sealed box. Not extremely loud, but enough so you could hear it in the car.
I wanted more bass, so I bought a bandpass box and 2 10" Infinity 1030W's.
Very soon after that, I purchased and installed an 800W Kenwood amp. It sounds awesome. Now the Sony amp powers my 6 by 9's and does fine. I'll get new pics soon.
I upgraded from my Pioneer headunit to a JVC KD-XL111. It doesn't have a detachable faceplate, but when it is turned off, it hides itself and appears all black
