Update 9/07

The cutlass was rebuilt as of july 15th with a torker intake, comp cams roller rockers, big valve "C" heads, and an a/c delete bracket that relocates the alternator to the passenger side. Unfortunately, a rod bearing decided it didn't want to live a long life and now she knocks like the police at the door. Back into storage for winter. Who knows when she'll be back up and running. :/

Sound!

Starting it up.

Idling/driving away (kinda loud at the end from the wind).

Taking off.

Echo's off the wall of the taco bell drivethrough.

mechacode's 1978 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Since the last update I've bought, an Edelbrock aluminum "Torker" intake, big valve C Heads, an entire rear axle (7.5) w/posi and 3.73's. I've just been buying the little stuff here and there as money is available. Got the rear trim off a car at a salvage yard, cleaned up where it has to go, now it just has to go on. Fixing rust (!@#$%) on the drivers side base of the windshield. Scraped it, removed it with chemicals and blasted it with paint, at least it's stopped for now until I can get some metal welded in there.

Performance Orientated

Started with:

*Boat anchor 260 olds v8.

Now with:

*1975 .060 over 455 (468 cubic inches, 190hp/370ft-lbs torque STOCK w/8:1 compression) BBO swap

*Zero decked block

*"J" heads with .030 shaved off for higher compression.

*Special built TH350

*4 barrel quad on stock iron intake.

*Rear- stock open diff, 2.56's.

*True dual 2.25" crimp bend exhaust running through hollowed out turbo mufflers for that scare-the-crap-out-of-old-people effect. 2.5" Exhaust in the (hopefully) near future.

*Aluminum hood. (Members of www.realoldspower.com OWN.)

Update: Carb problem solved! $5 part+$40 worth of fixing/changing other things while carb is off=doing the one-wheel-peal at 40mph.

Thanks for checking out my site. Basically the braces are just straight round tubing, pounded out with a hammer and a steel slab. I recommed (if you're going to make them) is making the ends that bend in and bolt up to the sides first, then just ones that is true, make the flat sides. They came like this on the Grand Prix, and LeSabre I believe. I don't know how much of a difference they made. As I did the frame braces at the same time too, but I think I'm gonna fab up something a little more study for the frame ties, especially out back. The front is noticeably tighter. I'm gonna check your Cutlass now. TTYL.
