Another Subaru Justy: Yes, I own two of them (but better rate the other one ;-) My family bought it in 1989.
Subaru Justy 12GL, with carburator, 68HP - old pic from 1998
The Subaru Justy J12 today. It will completely be restaurated in a few years. Up to then it waits in the garage. On the pic the hood has already been made. The grille was too damaged and was replaced. It will be painted white like it was before. The doors and the trunk lid were exchanged.
The cylinder head gasket is being replaced here. If you remove the cap of the radiator and run the engine (cold!) and you see bubbles, you probably have a leak in the gasket like me.
To prevent dirt in the cylinders while scraping off and sanding away the old gasket, I installed one-way cups into the cylinders.
The carburetor is still mounted on the head, so the gasket in between hadn't to be replaced since it wasn't obtainable.
Can you see where the leak was?
This is a self made tool to rotate the engine in the correct position to mount the timing belt.
The engine now runs fine :)
Of course there is a proper sound system ;-)
The sound-system is the predecessor of the one in the red justy:
-RTO 7004, 700W Amp 4-ch (located under driver's seat, active X-over)
-Conrad BPX250 Woofer (10" bandpass, 2x150W)
- Sinus Live 6"x9" speakers rear (installed in custom made wooden board)
- Conrad tweeters on dashboard, adapted high-pass filter to get some mid-tones (cut frequency 3500Hz)
- Pioneer DEH-1530 CD-RW head unit
Engine EF12 (stock condition, no changes planned)
Type EF12 2-barrel carb
Power: 68HP at 5600 RPM
Torque 97Nm at 3600 RPM
The engine has 3 cylinders and 9 valves and a displacement of 1189 ccm (73 cu. in).
Top Speed 155 km/h (97 mph)
Things that have to be done:
- complete restauration. I have many parts by now.
