Spring 2004
I haven't updated this page in a few months, and since I quite honestly almost forgot about it all together, I figured that I had better make the effort.
The following picture shows the Bobcat that I towed with my rig back in October of 2002. The drive was a little interesting considering the trailer had surge brakes that didn't work and no equalizer hitch either. Surprisingly my Ranger towed it quite well, and the little 2.8L even pulled the hulk up the Chase hill at 80km/h without much trouble. I was impressed to say the least.

December 2004
Since I swapped the 2.8L V6 into my truck, it has had piss poor winter driving tendencies. Not so much driving I guess, just running in general. It would stall at stoplights, stall on extended highway travel and generally just perform in a piss poor manner. I finally had enough last month and decided to correct this problem.
I have had this issue with every carbureted vehicle that I have ever owned, so after finding a common possible cause between each vehicle it was quite easy to figure out the problem - carburetor icing.
The following pics show my cheap ass fix for my winter woes that cost less than 40 bucks in total. All it took was a small piece of 2" exhaust pipe, a couple of hose clamps, a common Niehoff part, and some 2" fiberglass flex hose.

The fix works like a hot damn. I have yet to have an issue with stalling and piss poor running, even in -20C cold.
More to come...
