
This is where the story of my love of the Ford Escort started. This was my first car, a blue(was red) Mk1 2 door. It had a 1300 auto but I changed to a manual. I put some gold hotwires on it too.


After I put the Mk1 through a barbed wire fence, my hunger for more grunt and style caused me to buy this Mk2 2door. It was a weekend racer so it had all the good gear like a worked 2 litre with twin 40mm Dellortos and custom 2.25' exhaust. It also had a custom rear disc brake setup. After showing off to the boys once too many times No. 3 big end let go causing me to search for another bottom end. I got serious this time and ordered some Dave Vizard oversize s/s valves. These combined with a lumpier cam and ported and milled head really made good power! I also put some larger 45mm Dellortos on it too.
The Mk2 just wasn't enough. So I bought an unregistered Mk1 panelvan. It was a mess so I rebuilt it from scratch. I dumped the old 1300 motor and put in a fresh 2 litre bottom end with the head/cam/carbies from the Mk2. I put in a much milder 2' exhaust. But like most things, good things come to an end...and so does my cravings for Escorts....
