Update 2008, no more fart can.
This is my 93 "Pony". It's a base model Escort with a 5 speed tranny with no options like A/C, P/S or Air bags. It's the lighest of the Escorts, weighs about 2200 lbs, that is the main reason I picked this model.
I added Escort GT 15" wheels for traction and Escort GT side skirts for looks.
You are looking at the first turbo 1.9 SPI Hybrid.
The Motor: 1.9 SPI Hybrid
This is a stock 1.9 SEFI block with a stock 3rd Gen 2.0 SPI head. This makes for a low compression combination. The compression ratio comes out to about 7.9:1, feels like your typical low compression turbo motor. The SPI head flow's a lot better then the SEFI head, and with the dished 1.9 SEFI pistons this makes for a great turbo motor. It allow's me to run more boost with the stock N/A ignition timing with out having to fight detanation. I'm running 15-17psi with out deto.
I have turbo'd both the stock SEFI and 2.0 SPI, but with the higher stock compression you are limmited to ~8psi with 93 octane pump gas. More power can be made with the stock compression, but either the PCM will need to be tuned for it or a stand alone system will be needed. Either way fuel management is required.
2008 -It's been running on e85 since last year. The stuff is awsome. The IHI little turbo is maxed out, motor is wanting more!
Spec Stage 3 - Good price for what it is, but it chatters and just cant hold any power. It will be replaced soon.

Boost gauge is installed inside the cluster, yes it was a lot of work.
-1984-85.5 1.6 Escort GT & EXP Turbo manifold OEM.
-IHI Turbo: Probe 2.2 Turbine side with 2.3 Thunder Bird compressor side.
-2.25" Home made down pipe.
-1G Eclipse intercooler.
-Fuel Managment: Cartech 20005 FMU, Accel Adjustable-FPR, 24lb main injectors and 5th & 6th injector (42lb each) controller home made.
(Left)14.5 @ 95.19 mph with 8psi stock 2.0 SPI. (Right) 15.1 @ 100mph 17psi 1.9 SPI, only was able to make on pass, and part throttle (the launch) was bogging from a bad O2 sensor.

167whp 188ft lbs with 8psi stock 2.0 SPI.

212whp 262.6tq with 17psi 1.9 SPI (low compression)
No good time slips yet with this motor. Still on 1 7/8" exhaust.
Currenty making more power from the 3" exhaust and more boost thanks to e85.

Ebay china Type-S BOV. So far I'm very pleased with it. It does have a stiff spring installed to help hold high boost and stay's shut with idle vacuume.

End of summer in 2007, Full 3" from the down pipe back.
It's next to the stock 1-7/8" cat back to compare.

May 2008- New clutch installed and it hold's great! It's a clutchnet.com 4 puck spung hub with there "yellow" Pressure Plate. There's hardly any chatter, not bad for a 4 puck. And it was cheaper then the crappy Spec.

July 2008- Brake Upgrade from 9" rotor to 10". The Rotor is for a '03 Mazda Protege from R1 Concepts. They were about the same price as OEM part store replacments. The pads are Axxis ULT.
