It is true that you won't be getting those gains, but hell, save up your money and put it into the Geo. Don't mind them. Everyone has a dream, and I had one for my Geo when it was running. I'm in the same boat as you, a 1.8L DSM. No real horsepower gains, but man is it fun. Turn yours into a sleeper. No one expects a Geo.

Nice car!!!! Come check out www.fivezeroseven.com . It's a Minnesota based Sport Compact Club/Forum. It's actually mainly out of Mankato, so you aren't far. See you there! 150 hp in a car that dont weigh anything would be quick

to be honest with you buddy. if you acctually want to waste money on this car, then put a honda motor in it i suggest. i used to have a metro so i know what could fit in the chassy. my metro was the same motor so if your going to want a street racer metro look for a b16 1.6L V-tec motor and i bet you with that your should be at about 140 to 150 hp and from the way i know the car weighs you should break in the 14's with that motor. trust me working on a metro motor isnt worth wasting the money. if you want check out my page and you'll see what i have now. allthough i still want a metro again because they are very economic with gas.
