September 2005 . . .

Well the heads are back, the pistons are bought and hung on the X-rods I decided to keep. I went with Keith Black flat tops with 4 reliefs (KB198). For the 76cc heads I have, they should give me about 9:1 compression.

Here they are in the box, and now on the rods.

The 624s are back from the shop with pinned studs, new guides and a 3-angle valve job. The shop also had to trim off the intake side of the head to account for the zero-decked block.

Here are the heads and the block waiting for paint . . .

I painted the valve covers GM Blue, (yes yes I know, chrome chrome.. let's wait and see how it looks). I also painted the oil pan GM blue. Some more parts arrived today too.. rings, bearings and timing chain and gear. . .

Next up .. paint the block and heads. Stay tuned!
