This is my car. It is an '89 240SX fastback which I have converted into a Sileighty. I have had the car for about a year and a half now in which time I have taken it from bone stock to where it is now. I began by spending my time and limited funds upgrading the suspension, braking, and overall looks of the car. At this time the SR20DET swap was merely a dream. Sure the car looked sick but it couldn't back it up. Step by step the car evolved with the most recent changes being on page 4. But first let's start at the begining.zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silviazippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
Buying the car for $600 from a co-worker allowed me some spending money. First up were a set of Eibach Sportline springs and KYB struts. They lowered the stance nicely but also highlighted my ugly stock wheels. Solution? 17" Konig Heliums in Bronze. It is at this time I also upgraded to powerslot brake rotors all around and AXIS metal master pads. There was a defininte improvement from the stock braking but something told me I would not be satisfied for long.zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
BAM!!! 300ZX Brake conversion. I went with the 30mm Aluminum calipers because they were available. I had no plans of converting to a 5 lug setup so the rotors had to be redrilled to accomodate the stock 4x114.3 bolt pattern. Along the way I realized that I would have some clearance issues so I invested in some 15mm spacers from H&R and some extended wheels studs from Nismo. I kept the stock master cylinder because although there is a tad more pedal travel, it is more than adequate for a street car.zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
I think I'm turning Japanese! It was blind luck that I came upon a Silvia front end conversion just down the street from where I worked at the time. I also purchased an R32 style grill off of EBAY. 24 hours and a whole lotta curse words later. JDM baby!!!zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
CooCoo for Kouki's. I always liked the look of the taillights on 96+ 180sx's so I got some. It took a little bit of splicing the electrical connections but they bolted right in. The best thing about them? At night on the freeway the quad circles are reminiscent of a Skyline, or at least a C5 Vette. Either way not too shabby.zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
Bomex! All Bomex! After waiting about 4 months for my sideskirts and rear valence to get through customs it was truly a sight to behold. By that I mean the rear didn't fit. Whoever said Bomex fits like a glove was either a pro at body work or was greatly mistaken. However my dad and I were not to be outdone. 1 electric saw, 2 cans of bondo and a hole lot of sand paper later. Voila! At this point the car was painted dark blue metallic. zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
I had admired my brand new paint job for about 2 minutes before my dad said it needed something to break up the monotony of all that blue. I decided not to go with his suggestion of a yellow racing stripe and instead purchased a carbon fiber hood. The hood emblem comes from an S14A Silvia, $40 bucks. Ouch!!!zippy023's 1989 Nissan Silvia
