January 2009: SPARCO Sprint V seats.
Yes, I've begun the new year with a pair of nice seats from Sparco. I couldn't use the Sparco side mounts, which were extremely light, as the sitting position was just too high. In the end, a super-low set of mounts were used which ate away at the weight savings. Per seat, weight saved is about 2kg at best.
The car looks more purposeful now and the little Sparco stitchings at the 'wings' has worked better than I thought with the rest of the car. I think it looks like markings on Formula 1 tyres' sidewalls! Driving-wise, every trip to the store feels like a track session; getting in the seat, strapping in, starting up, feeling the vibrations, being held in place as I pull out of the parking lot...then accelerating hard, pressing myself into the seat and pretending I was in a race-car. I love these seats!
I love them better now as I bought a pair of lumbar supports. My lower back is heaving a huge sigh of relief now. Heh!

**My previous seats, which I sometimes wish I still had everytime I have to clamber out of my buckets and roll out of the car.**
Seats and door panels are wrapped in lovely Connolly leather.
***7th June 2005***
Installed IL Motorsports' white gauges and also painted my needles orange. I removed the underside white of the needle and used a Tamiya marker to paint the needle. Worked nicely!
I pasted this Miata sticker on the gauge face in case I forget what car this is!
And finally the finished product....
You can see my starter button peeking from behind the steering wheel, too. I'm still trying to remember to USE it! Ha!
Cadence component speakers are installed in the headrest with Rockford components fitted to the doors.
Shifter knob, collar and handbrake lever are from Voodoo and the gear shift surround is from IL Motorsport. (4th Sept 2003)
Short shifter kit is from Moss. (9th March 2005)
Compare the stock shifter and the short shifter, you can see the difference in the height. The shifting feels great too!
Steering wheel and pedals are from MOMO.
Head unit is a Clarion unit, replacing an Alpine, driving the headrest speakers and the door speakers...that's it! Nothing fancy!
I changed the shiny plasticky instrument cowling to a matt-finish one from a later model Miata. This was through the kind recommendation of the Mynnster, aka Phoenixblue! Thanks babe!
Now the dash looks more contemporary and the reflection from the shiny cowl on the windscreen is gone!
