Yes, you cam actually fit two pairs of skis and all your gear into a Metro 'vert with the top up! I was pretty surprised about that, actually. Notice the lack of tire chains despite a foot of snow on the ground! I feel safer driving the little Metro on icy, wet, or snowy roads than I ever did while driving my previous luxury cars. Light weight, front wheel drive, and snow tires help keep me on the road worry-free. These were both taken at Trillium Lake an hour from Portland, Oregon, at very different times of the year.

Willkommen in Munchen! No, I didn't drive to Munich, unfortunately - this is the uber Bavarian town of Leavenworth high in the mountains of central Washington. The attractions here are breathtaking...snow capped mountains, blossoming apple orchards, a raging river...and lots of good beer, of course!

Trendy, spendy Steamboat Springs, Colorado, is home to some of the world's best skiing in the winter. Colorado is one of only a few American states who allow that greatest of conveniences: the drive-thru liquor store.

Humptulips, Washington: the best-named town ever! Taken on a trip through Washington's gorgeous, green, and poverty-stricken Olympic Peninsula. Nearby is the craftily named At Work Tavern, popular with the pickup truck driving set.

This is Smith Rock in the Central Oregon high desert, home to some of the world's best rock climbing cliffs. I bring my mountain bike along and ride the great trails that run throughout the park.

The historic Gold Rush era town of Jacksonville, Oregon, almost unchanged since the turn of the last century. It's got a great old pioneer cemetery and buildings that date back to the mid 1800's - old by West Coast standards! Most of the towns I see like this are just ghost towns now out in the high deserts.
