Here's a couple for the Stephen King fans. On the left is the Overlook Hotel from Stanley Kubrick's horror classic, The Shining. In reality it's Timberline Lodge, which is 6,000 feet high on the side of Mt Hood in Oregon. Some 1,200 miles to the right is the Overlook Hotel from the TV mini-series, Stephen King's The Shining. This is actually the Stanley Hotel in touristy Estes Park, Colorado, though the hotel really is pretty creepy inside. King got the idea for The Shining while staying here in room 217 back in the 70's. The lower photo on the left is the view from Timberline's parking lot in the winter. On the right is the lobby of the Stanley Hotel.

Moving further south now, this is the famous O.K. Corral in Tombstone, Arizona. The Metro is parked in the exact spot where Frank McLaury died after being shot down by the Earp brothers. The green structure behind it is the boarding house where Doc Holliday was living at the time. The second photo shows the actual site of the gunfight complete with life-sized figures of the participants.

Legendary Boot Hill cemetery, now a tourist-trap gift shop in Tombstone. A few of the original gtave stones are still intact.

The Metro getting ready to mingle with the rich and famous in sunny Palm Springs, California. I'll find a better second photo when I get time!

Salt Lake City, Utah. Beautiful city with mountains on one side and the lake on the other. Also home to the world headquarters of the Deseret Thrift Stores (among other things).

A bad photo of the original Las Vegas, Nevada strip on Fremont Street, with the now-closed historic Horseshoe Casino on the left. On the right is a better shot of what Fremont Street looks like with the giant light show above everything.

Welcome to Twin Peaks! This is the "RR" Diner and the spot where the sign welcomed you to town in David Lynch's TV series, though in reality it's North Bend, Washington. The warm cherry pie is heavenly and the coffee is of course, damn good. ("And just smell those trees! Douglas Firs! Diane, I'm gonna move here someday!")
