I went ahead and looked throughout the internet forums for this swap and I didn't see anyone do it or try it or instructions on how to do it, so I decided to give it a shot myself after looking up how to remove the dash surround and center tray.
The goal was to relocate the USB where the 12V adapter is because I typically charge phones, tablets, etc near me, and I didn't want to reach over to the passenger side to take out the cables every time I parked. Also, the 12V adapter suits things like GPS or a Radar Detector with the pigtail/long cord. I get annoyed with the cord in my way so I thought it would be better running along the passenger side, instead of along where the gear shift select knob is.
It worked relatively easy. Nothing was removed/spliced/cut etc. You do have to remove the USB wire from a clip that is inside the dash by the upper vent but it's nothing difficult and frees up a lot of wire to run the USB to the driver side. As for the 12V... it is stuck with a bundle of stock wiring that just needs to be pulled and stretched over to the passenger side in order for you to reach. It is a bit of a stretch to get the tray in afterwards, so you'll have to maneuver the cable carefully so that you don't break it, but in the end the application works with the tray no problem and full power to both sides.
