Trunk Enclosure
First we start of with a selection of random parts laying around your place and try to wonder what the hell to do with em all. A sensable person would throw it all away or sell it on ebay cause it's just Junk.
But you decide to put em all together, find out you have something that works, and say "Screw it, I'm putting it in the car"

Well, now how do I fit all that in the car w/o it looking like shit. Eh, I still needed to finish the trunk. It's been "in progress" for about 9 months now, might as well do something about it. So i start with my mad skills in MS Paint (since work doesn't have Photoshop).

^That image is just funny to look at. It looks pissed off.
Anyway, so you start buying more parts that you need for the cheap (because you have some of the parts) project. Wood, tools you realize you need, a smaller keyboard (the one in the top image was the 'new' small keyboard), power inverter, FM transmitter, rollers for the sliding drawer... 'Cheap' project, remember.
So as we're waiting for more parts to arrive from ebay, we play with MS Paint more at work to get some much better looking designs. (Note: Some of these are reverse-engineered pictures. IE: Drawn after the design was already set in... wood)

Then we start measuring the trunk, realizing that Paseo trunks are small and that original plans just won't work. No room for circus clowns, rubber chickens, and remote control cars. We have space limitations here.
First we use a piece of cardboard to cut the shape into. This is MUCH easier to carry around between your car and 3 floors up to your apartment building. Then trace this shape around your wood.
[pic coming soon]
Then we cut the wood into the shapes we need. the holes, rectangles, sliding drawer.

Here's a hint for everyone. Liquid nail is the cure for everything. Screw all other glue and nails. This is the way to go. Well, mostly. I used a few screws for added support, but at least a tube of liquid nail on this project. The carpet is liquid nailed down (quite well too, not what i expected.) Just don't use too much or it will seep through.
Now if you do this correctly, everything will fall right into place. Measure once, cut twice. Huh? That doesn't sound right. Reverse that. Even then, sometimes you have to cut twice, when you miss judge a lip in the trunk. always cut less than you think is right, check it, and cut again.
Finally you end with something looking a lil like this. Assuming you ignored all my advice, hired a professional, and paid more than you expected. (Note: That is not what I did, this was all by hand and from scratch)

Parts used:
-500Mhz AMD Athlon Processor
-128Mb Ram
-Some random motherboard that supports AMD
-64Mb Graphics card worth more than the entire fricken computer because it supports TV out which is easier than having a VGA->RCA adapter in the works and dual monitors but is still just junk laying around because the fan on it is about to blow up any day.
-Old school soundblaster Soundcard.
-TV-in card.
-10Gb Harddrive for most of your MP3 needs.
-DVD-Rom + CD-RW for Movies & the rest of your MP3 needs.
-5" LCD screen. Yes only 5". $25 off of ebay, (ignoring the $15 they're refunding me since this came out of a 'broken' XBOX LCD monitor.) Bow down before your ebay master.
-USB port. Again with the mp3 needs. Maybe even wireless internet biatch.
-400W Power inverter. 150W Computer Power supply + LCD power + 100W(?) XBOX.
-FM Transmitter. If anyone knows a better way of getting music straight into a head unit that doesn't have an input, i'd like to know.
-Mini Keyboard with touchpad mouse.
Future Plans
Before another person asks the question "Why a computer in your trunk, not like you can use it driving?" Well, yes, and No shit. I plan on using it, somehow? Eyes in the back of my head maybe? Keep in mind I'm at at least 1 car show a month bored outta my mind for at least 7hr 30min of the 8 hr thing. Now I have all the music I need. Plus my xbox.
But having done this project also leaves room for adding a touch screen in the dash that allows you everything at your finger
tips. Woot.
