1994 Chevy Lumina Euro 3.1

this is one of my cars that i didn't have long. i bought it for my dad in april '03 but he decided to keep driving his '85 Olds Cutlass so i ended up selling this one in august '03. i cleaned it up really nice and put some new parts on it to make it a whole car again and it looked really nice after it was all done. i should've taken a "before" picture to show how nasty it was when i got it. i had to buff the exterior 3 times, each time using:
1) a very abrasive compound - to cut through oxidation and blend deep scratches.
2) a mild compound - to blend the scratches left by the abrasive stuff.
3) a polish - to blend even more scratches left by the first two coats.
4) a final light polish/wax - to finish it off and leave the paint with a mirror finish.
it was very time consuming and hard on my arms since there was so much buffing, but let me say that anything that got on the car wiped right off, no problem. i accidently parked the car under a pine tree during a storm and there was sap EVERYWHERE! after about 3 days i finally got to wash the car and to my suprise, the sap washed right off and it left no marks in the paint at all. i was happy i spent all that time on it afterall.
i also gutted the whole interior and cleaned every single part by hand and re-installed again. i would say the worst part was either the seats or the carpet. the interior is supposed to be grey but when i bought the car it was BROWN! i took the carpet out and used a high pressure washer to force every spec of mud and dirt out of the fibers. after it was clean i sat it outside and let it dry for about a week, and that's just about how long it took too! the seats i had to spray down with a clear cleaner/degreaser product and used compressed air to blow out every square inch of the fabric, and when it dripped out it looked more like maple syrup, YUCK! then i deororized the heck out of it for several days and it smelled so much better. re-assembled everything and the car was good to go!
