Latest Purchases

4th Jan 2005
I was browsing through e-bay and stumbled across this little beauty.

rock_it's 1997 Hyundai Sonata

I thought for one second, and had to have it. It is simply a powdercoated valve cover painted by TRG Coating. They do a whole range of cars and for full details head to http://www.trgperformance.com/

Since I splurged out on the Valve cover above, I thought a nice spark plug cover was in order. Also since my stock one was stolen when the engine was being imported (along with the injectors)... Thanks US customs.

Well both the above parts are in, and here is what they look like.

I have also bought some more products ... Stay tuned and as soon as I get some photo's up I will post them.

14th March 2005

In the audio department I have just purchased a JVC KV-MR9000 9" wide-screen color monitor. I am picking up the DVD player, and front fully automatic screen this weekend ... If all goes to plan ....

The JVC KV-MR9000 is pictured below :-

To go with My JVC purchase, I have just picked up a 7" Wide-screen monitor for the front. I also picked up my in car DVD player.

27th March 2005

I have decided to take the car off the road and rebuild the engine. This will be happening on 4th April, and will probably be out of action for a couple of weeks. We are trying a process called Extrude Honing on the block and upgrading all internals.

27th March 2005

I have also picked up a Monza Quick shift kit which will be installed when the car goes in for the rebuild.

1st July 2005

OK, well the car has been off the road since April. We have had drama's trying to find some replacement parts. The first problem was the Crankshaft. I had to purchase an Evo VII Crank off Ralliart in Australia. We tried all different variants of the 4G63 engine include the Gallant VR-4 but none of them fit.

A Tomei Metal Gasket has also been fit, and a lot of various engine parts & seals. The whole engine was taken apart and all brand new internals have been added. I will list them all individually when I get the bill .... OUCH :(

Upgrades have been as follows: -

Garrett GT30 Turbo
Custom manifold
TurboSmart Pro Gate External Wastegate 48mm
Turbo Blanket
Malpasi Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walbro Fuel Pump
550cc Fuel Injectors

8th June 2006

Decided it was time to upgrade the suspension. So I purchased some coil overs, and a whiteline 20mm heavy duty adjustable rear sway par. I don't have a pic of the sway bar, but here is whay my T&P coil overs look like... Purchased them from www.kspec.com
