-some paint here and there.

Instructions for DIY polish intake manifold and DIY heatshield
Materials
-sandpaper 3-6 sheets 60 grit, 3 sheets 120 grit, 240 grit, 400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000. ya its alot but u have to do it!
-old rags/towels to cover up engine from metal flakes
-some good metal polish, i used Mothers brand.
-a bottle of oil

1.cover up everything in your engine except your manifold.
2.get 60 grit and go completely nutts on it! not kidding, like 2 hours sanding ONE WAY top to bottom. DO NOT go back and forth and top to bottom, u can only sand one way or it will look retarded. have music playing, and take some pain killers cuz ur back will hurt. Seriously this is the most important part of polishing it, the longer and smoother u get it with 60 grit the better it will turn out.
2. do the same for 120,240, and 400. but not quite as long. probably and hour total.
3. starting at 600 and until 2000 you will be wet sanding. the sandpaper that you will have to get is found at autozone and used on autobody. just dab ur finger in oil, then put a bit on the sandpaper, and keep sanding. do 600 grit for a bit, and just keep climbing up to the higher grits. 2000 is your finishing grit soo, if u see any imperfections, try and take em out.
4. after sanding is finished, dry/wipe it all off, and get the polish. polish it like 3 times and get it as shiny as you can! there you go! it took me like 6 hours total with breaks, and it was completely worth it, i would recommend it to anyone with a VR motor!

*i also used the same instructions on polishing my strut tower bar.

Here is a before and after pictures of my intake manifold and strut tower bar polishing. the before picture is the bottom left one.

Instructions for heat sheld creation!

Parts
metal cutters $10
Galvanized steal $8
to make it look good
foam door sealer $3
3m super adhesive spray glue $10

its really not hard. i spent 10 bucks on cheap metal cutters at sears, they had a red one, yellow, and green. yellow for straight, red and green are for like angle left angle right. and then i went to lowes. got an 18x24 sheet of galvanized sheet(no rusty) metal i think 26gage. (the thinner the metal is usually the better because the smaller it is the less amount of heat it will hold, therefore the less amount of heat it will set out) i wouldnt go much thinner then 26 gage. thats like 8 bucks. then spend another (if you want its not necessary) like 3 bucks on foam door sealer. it looks like a long small tube, and some high heat glue (3m super adhesive you can find that at like a car paint/parts shop)$10 but im sure some heavy duty glue will work.
Then get a piece of cardboard, and fit it the way you want, and the best way that works for the car. then use that as a guide/stencil to cut out your metal. *u might have to practice on cutting thin straight lines before your really cutting to make sure you got the hang of it. also you kind of have to "work your way in" you CANT just cut right at the line, you cut like 5 in. away from line, then 3, then 2, then 1 then finally on line, that will keep metal from bending now getting it to fit, you may have to leave a tab on an end, bend it and bolt it to car, or use lots of pull ties! and thats your heatsheild! if you got the foam, then you can get a razor and slice it down the middle, 3/4 through foam, and put glue on the edge, and cut to fit the foam on it! it works great! Also i heard painting it on the surface with engine enamel or heat paint will flake if not some serious prepping is done, sanding sanding sanding.

***** BE CAREFUL DRILLING HOLES IN YOUR HEATSHIELD! your foot may slip while holding it down, and it will look like this murder scene.

Have to respect all your custom work. You sound like a guy who thinks, "do it right, do it once". Great quality work. Keep it up.
