Hey guys, My name is Rob, I live in Thunder Bay On. Canada. I'm a Volkswagen nut, especially fast Cal-Look cars.

Here is an Old pic of my 62 just after I bought it off a friend in British Columbia. It was taken a the Marina here in Thunder Bay:

This is another picture of my car taken at the Minneapolis Bug-In, I got 1st in the 49-67 semi-custom class and got the long distance award:

Sorry for the poor pictures, they were scanned years ago.

Since these photos were taken I've put it on a big dose of steroids.

I started by rebuilding the front and rear suspensions. I added 2 sets of Gene Berg caster shims in the front and new KYB shocks to it. For the rear I reindexed the spring plates to raise the suspension (I know, you should never raise a car, but wait I needed to), then added poly bushings and early bus snubbers.

The car already had 15x4.5 front and 15x5.5 rear chrome rims with Porsche nipple caps. The tires are 135SR15 Michelin tires, and it had 205/60x15s on the back, after I raised it I went to a 205/65x15, these look alot better and fill the wheel opening better. The rims will change, just getting the running gear sorted first.

I then put a set of Bug-Pack solid mounts into it, I will be replacing these soon as they are just too noisey. I am planning to go with a Gene Berg intermediate (GB 643) mount and HD Volkswagen mounts, this along with a TG Fab traction bar should solve the noise problem, while eliminating wheel-hop.

I next tore into the tunnel and relaced the shift rod bushing and put a poly shift rod coupler into it. I topped this off with a wicked Gene Berg Rapid-Travel (GB 6771) shifter, this has 60% shorter throw and is intended for race cars. The car is dirty, it's been in the garage for 3 years.

I have about 80 miles on the car so far with the rebuilt motor. All seems to be going good, I have the 6000rpm pill in the MSD box so I haven't really got into it yet. I really like the way the WebCam 86c comes on compaired to the FK-87, way smoother and less on/off cam syndrom.

These pics were taken at the local car show here on Thursday night. I still haven't finished the Fuchs yet and I still need to insall disc breaks to install them. Notice how the front beam tucks the rims in upfront and the rear M&H stick out just a tiny bit. MEAN!!!

Don't ask about the Gorilla. Note how different the color look in the sun.

The Motor all ready for action. I want to replace all the rubber with braided lines for next year.
