Back from Wookies in the Woods 2014
Great get together for car enthusiasts. Organization was better this year than last year. I'm just sorry some of my friends from Iowa couldn't make it this time.

Preparing to depart for WiTW 2014
Unfortunately, Cardomain is not properly allowing me to add modifications and it is not correctly displaying modifications that were previously made. Disappointing.

Stoptech ST40 brakes installed
Dropped roughly 28 pounds off of each front corner. Unfortunately, I continue encountering an error when attempting to reflect this modification under "modifications." Sigh.

Another angle on the dyno
With about 17,700 miles, the car is still running terrific.

Version 1 versus Version 2 dyno chart
Just over 16,500 miles on the clock so far. Once I have a back up vehicle, we'll see how crazy this little VW can get.

A little dyno time
I hope to have charts soon. Best numbers on the day were 354 front wheel horsepower and 312 front wheel torque.

Cam follower after about 16,300 miles
Stage 3 was installed at just under 3,000 miles. I inspected the cam follower and replaced it at about 16,300 miles. The anti-friction coating is well worn from the center of the follower. The wearing away of the coating precedes the wearing away of the face of the follower. Ultimately, the follower will wear through completely causing metal shavings to be forced into the engine precipitating catastrophic failure.

APR Stage 3 in a word: Disappointment
The stock R tops out at somewhere just short of 130. Sadly, despite the huge infusions of cash required, the APR Stage 3 kit only adds another 15 MPH or so to the top end. The low pressure fuel pump control module is apparently not up to the task.Allegedly, APR will be increasing the price and including a new module to resolve this issue but that is of no use to people with existing Stage 3 kits. APR wants $575 additional for parts, not including any labor.I couldn't be more disappointed.
