Carbon Fiber Hood Install
After about a month of waiting, custom made carbon fiber hood FINALLY arrived! YAY! I knew these things were light, but I was really surprised at how light they really are, especially compared to the stock hood. I was expecting to have to find someone to help me lift the hood and help me fit it on to the car. In comparison the stock hood is about 20+lbs. more and it really strained my back trying to lift it off the car by myself. I wound up pulling a muscle and cramping up pretty badly. But after a few minutes, and taking deep breaths, I was able to continue the installation.
Placing the new CF hood on top of the car was effortless. However, getting it properly aligned up with the hinges was a real problem. I was so worried about the hood being too heavy to work with, but on the contrary it was quite the opposite. The hood was so light,it kept sliding off of the hinges when I tried to thread the bolts through them. Eventually I wound up calling someone just to hold the damn thing still while I thread the bolts through.
