FEBUARY 27, 2006. I am very sadened to learn Dennis Weaver passed away this weekend. May this page pay a little homage to him and his acting ability. This page is for people who appreciate a well writen, superberbly acted, and realistic film which is all too hard to find in today's computer generated action world, containing unrealistic stunts and ridiculous premises.
May 2005. I took my Monaco on a little adventure recently. I've always loved the movie "DUEL"(1971) that stars Dennis Weaver as a businessman driving through the desert in his little red Plymouth Valiant, and gets chased by a phsyco truck driver. I wanted to try to find the restaurant used in the movie when Weaver gets run off the road. Well, I found it and took some pictures of the Monaco in front of it.
In the left side pictures you can see the Monaco parked outside the window that Weaver looked through in the film. Instead of a '55 Peterbilt parked outside, its a 74 Monaco (almost as big!)Picture taken May 2005.
In the right side pictures, taken from the movie, Weaver walks toward the Cafe where he mentally flips out and eats lunch by the window I would visit 3 decades later. Scene filmed Sept-Oct. 1971. VERY little has changed in 34 years.
We all know what Dennis is thinking here-> "Why didn't I order the optional Big Block 440?"
Here I use an old phone booth "to report a truck driver that has been endangering my life."
