Ive always been borderline fanatical about the appearance of my cars. Motorcycles have been an outlet for my desire to wreck stuff. Recently I did a little freshening up to the car and took a couple cell phone shots of the results.

Heres where Ive been dropping a little coin lately. As the car sits, its got  a FWI, 1.8:1 roller rockers, headers, a tune, 180* tstat and a 3.4" pulley. Where the money has been going is the Gen V blower, N* throttle body, intercooler and all the extra doodads to put it together. Ive developed a nasty engine noise I attribute to a possible spun bearing so when I get a replacement long block (preferrably L32) it will be getting an Intense S1x cam as well. The temptation to go turbo is strong, but so is the need to eat.

Suspension Setup
the-now-winter-bent5s-are-filled-out-nicely-by-the-bigger-brakes
The now-winter Bent5s are filled out nicely by the bigger brakes.

I had actually upgraded the brakes quite some time ago, but they are much more visible with the new wheels. The front calipers are technically off a Grand Prix GXP but are the same as those used on many GM vehicles. Rotors are 12.75" with twin piston aluminum calipers in front. Rear are the stock calipers with larger GXP rotors and brackets.
Other GXP bits include front and rear sway bars. Ive also fitted Energy poly bushings and end links, which required some custom fabrication for the rear.
Planned suspension mods are under debate but I do plan to lower the car 1-1.5" all around. I can either cut my front coils, cut a set of GXP springs or try an Eibach lowering kit for a Cadillac STS. Either way, the issue of damping needs to be addressed before I alter springrates and stance.
Wheels are Enkei CDR-9 that I picked up on CL for so cheap I was able to ignore how ugly they are. Currently running Continental Extreme Contact DW tires.

Had to fill in that extra space with something. Two Morimoto CCFL halo rings epoxied to aluminum plates did the job nicely.

So the lighting setup is probably the most unique and popular mods Ive done. The lowbeam projectors are Infinity FX35/45 bixenon HID units. They were retrofitted by HIDIllusionz a few years back. I was lazy and busy so I farmed this one out, but ive since done many retrofits to other cars and motorcycles. In addition to the projector retro, I have HIR 9011 bulbs in the highs with Catz Zeta ballasts pushing 15V at the bulb. The output from this combo is stunning. Currently running Morimoto 5five ballasts and bulbs in 4300k.
The fog lights are Blazer projectors with 3000k hid, retrofitted into the stock housings. I added morimoto CCFL rings to fill in the extra space and to act as a DRL or general attention whore device.
The corner marker lights were retrofitted with 48 superflux LEDs per side controlled with a dual mode PWM. The finished look is quite nice.

alexis08 Jul 26, 2012 Very nice Bonneville.

piemaster007 Jul 24, 2012 Very well done retrofit; I like the interesting touches you've made.
