Here are some pics of my kick panels. I used the original panel and then fiberglassed them. I couldn't find a matching color, so I used this color which is the same as the factory color of the dash.

I will answer your question, no!! They tell you that at dealerships but assuming the system is bose all you need is an adapter for it. I just got 2 12's in my Qx4 and they were installed without any problems and sound incredible if you are thinking about getting subs i recommend audiobahn for everything
