First picture of the Mach 1 in late 2001. Engine smoked, tranny slipped, and it needed serious work. It is now called Frankenstein because during the restore process I have found that it is a mix of parts that were not original to it. So far.. The engine is a 351 Cleveland 'H' Code (Door says 'Q' code), The front bumper is from a red stang. The passenger door has different stuff on it indicatiing it was replaced.. Etc.. Etc..
Just look at the shape of the engine in January of 2002. After sitting for 15 years (not by my doing) it looks awful. Corrosion and pitting are everywhere. Rust rings in the cylinders as well.
Here it is in March 2002 after the rebuild, and getting ready to be put back in the Mach 1. Federal Mogul pistons, Comp Cam 252H, High capacity oil pump, and roller rockers are the modifications within. We estimate the horsepower to be around 330 to 350.
