UPDATES
09/05/05-Installed CRX Dash
I bought a CRX dash off of some guy in St. Loius.I paid $80 shipped. Its blue so it matches everything.I still have a few little things to fix.Ive got to get a new tach. One out of a CRX so it will match the cover.Youll see what I mean in the pictures.I also had to cut up the steering column cover because the top piece wouldnt fit right. So Ive got to get a new one.But Ill do that when I swap the steering column for a tilt column.Scroll down alittle to see what the original dash looked like.

Taking out the original dash was a pain in the ass.

Thats what I mean about the column cover

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

And the gauge cluster.

While installing the dash I painted the shifter gloss black.
I also painted the steelies flat black to cover up the rust. They look 10 times better so now I dont feel that embarassed about driving without rims.I also painted the faded areas around the windows. Now it looks brand new.Same deal with the wiper arms. Those really looked like shit.Ill try to take some more pics this weekend.

07/22/05-Installing Grant Steering Wheel Security System

I picked up a Grant Steering Wheel Security System for my car today.I have a Grant GT Signature Series steering wheel(model 710).I was going to spend about $350 on an alarm system(still going to get one,but can hold off alittle longer). So I found this on eBay brand new for $80 shipped.Thats alot better then buying it through Grant for $120.In my opinion this is probably more effective then an alarm because thieved can always get past alarm systems.
These pics were taken with my phone. They arent half bad.Surprising.

With wheel removed and horn undone. That is the old steering wheel hub.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

With new steering wheel hub on steering column.I know I'm missing the pic where there isnt a hub on at all,but it was hot as fuck and wanted to get it over and done with.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

Wiring up horn.Had to cut some wires.Make sure you have good wire cutters.Mine sucked and I nearly ruined the horn.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

With locking mechanism screwed into place.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

Steering wheel connected.Again,Im missing a picture of how I connected the Steering wheel to the its connector.Sorry, but it was really hot out.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

Crappy picture of where the key goes into it.

civichbdrivr88's 1988 Honda Civic

Protected by Grant.Haha.Thats what people see now when they look into my car.

I only installed it today. It seems pretty good. Its alittle tight when taking the wheel off the hub.But that may just need some time to break in.I like the fact that you need the key to take off the red plate. The overall design of the locking mechanism is pretty good.I also like the fact that I dont have to undo wires for the horn when I take off the wheel.

It took me about 45 mins to get everything done.I was taking my time and making sure I did everything the instructions told me to do.Very simple install and so far worth every penny.
