08/30/04: Update: Ok. It turns out I had the wrong brake lines for the 300zx conversion...so I had to throw down 120 do get new ones...damn! Also, I think I am going to need wheel spacers to fit the calieprs...another 120....shit man! I am going to order 3 new tires for the wheels (350), and I just got a quote to install the short shifter (100) and springs and shocks (200)....after I orer the tires and wheel spacers Ill get the springs and shocks and short shifter installed, and then the 300 zx conversion....also I had my mechanic finally replace that O2 sensor and the entire EGR system....so far so good....my idle smoothed out a bit, although its still a little rough....CEL gone though! I had to remove the wheels because one of my tires blew out....
06/13/04: Ordered the B&M short shifter today! I also purchased two 300zx calipers and rotors and stainless steel brakelines! Hopefully Ill be installing the brakes next week...maybe the short shifter too!
05/18/04: Installed my wheels last weekend! 18X8 masitaly presidents! Man do they make the car look great! I still have not installed the suspension yet....have kyb-agx shocks and H&R springs and an addcco RSB....I may sell the RSB rather than install it...the car is in the shop right now getting the EGR system flushed and some strange axle noises diagnosed....I am thinking Ill get a B&M short shifter soon....
01/31/04: Y-pipe and cat installed
today! Its definitely faster, but I expect it to be even more noticable after the ECU learns over the next several weeks.
01/29/04: Just bought a warpspeed y-pipe and high flow cat! I am hoping to have it installed tomorrow. I replaced the b-pipe with an OEM style pipe, because it had a hole in it. I might get a tip for the muffler, but for now, I am going to keep it stock from the cat back.
01/04/03: Recieved my 1998 cefiro rear tail lights today! Installed and had time to take some new pics....I will be switching out the tail light bulbs for platinum orange ones that match my headlights soon...thanks to saed (aka cefiroman) for the tails!
12/19/03: As of today I have installed my white faced gauges, and cefiro chrome gauge rings....looks great! Also, I had the pin stripes removed, probably the best thing I have done yet! I have also put on the 99 I30 center oplique and the cefiro sports grill and I am waiting now to get the cefiro tails in the mail...still havent had time or money to complete the stereo system...next mods will be:
1. purchase a y-pipe and b-pipe
2. chrome exterior door handles, 3. replace interior chrome door handles (1 has peeled)
3. finish off stereo (amps and door speakers needed)
10/17/03: Well I am having my new (used) engine put in in 3 days. It has 44k miles and a 1 year warrenty, upgradable to a lifetime warrenty! It was only 650 shipped too! Also, I purchased Cefiro 1 piece headlights (installed) with platinum turn signal bulbs, (still are orange but dont reflect so much in the housing) an addco rsb, H&R springs, and KYB-AGX shocks/struts....
Recieved the cd player a while ago, but havent installed the lcd, dvd or cd player in lieu of getting all new speakers and amps...also picked up those 18X8 MASITALY Presidents from ny last month....I am waiting until march or april to put them on....
9/22/03: I still havent had money or time to install the dvd player or 7 inch lcd screen....I did order a kenwood excelon KDC-769 cd player of ebay....still waiting for it to arrive.
Also, I am picking up some MAS Italy Presidents 18X8 wheels in NY. The car is in the shop right now having the engine diagnosed.
9/01/03: My car is almost stock right now. I have a front strut tower brace and a 7" lcd player and dvd player, not yet installed.
It is a very dark green 1996 I30 5 speeed, with 109K Miles.
It probably has something wrong with the timing chain, so I will probably get a used engine with around 40k miles.
Also the tranny has several leaks. When the mechanic replaces the gaskets Ill have him check out the diff bearings to see if they are properly shimmed...if not Ill be replacing those too!
I have an lcd player and dvd player from redmax that I have yet to install....greatly looking forward to it though!
