As those of you who have been following my cars for a while know, I'm pretty partial to DiabloSport products. After using their U7135 Predator on my 300C SRT8, and starting out with the same on my Jeep SRT8, I switched over to the Trinity. One of the nice things about the Trinity is that even now that I've gone to a different manufacturer, I can still use the same device. Unlike the Predators, which have different tools and hardware for each type of car or truck, the Trinity (and inTune) covers all supported vehicles on the same tool (one at a time)! Great news for people like myself who don't keep cars very long. Anyway, installation of a tune is extremely simple. Simply select a PCM tune, select a TCM tune and let it go. It will back up your stock tunes in case you need them in the future and will install DiabloSports performance tunes in their place. For the CTS-V they offer 91 and 93 octane tunes, with or without an overdrive pulley. What that means is, when I installed the pulley on my balancer, I simply pushed a few buttons and installed a new tune that can take advantage of it! Best part, when I go further with my mods, I can contact one of their custom tuners, who can do a custom tune for me on DiabloSports ChipMaster Revolution (CMR) software package. Thats an option none of the other tuning companies offer. Go to HyperTech, BullyDog, or SuperChips, and you're shit out of luck once you do heavier mods. The TCM can be set in one of three different settings as well. Back to the Trinity, the device is made of plastic, with a touchscreen, and a few buttons. It has a plug in the back for a Molex connector, which it uses to connect to your cars OBD-2 port. It has an SD card slot and analog input plug too. It comes with a windshield mount if you wish to keep it in your car. A USB cord is also included for updates (which are free), and for downloading datalogs to your computer.... Speaking of which, the Trinity isn't just a tuner! It has many other uses too. It can log exactly what your cars computer is doing. It also lets you monitor whats going on in real time. Dashboards are included for doing both. Got a Check Engine light? The Trinity can read the code, tell you what it means, and erase it! Its also able to act as a virtual dragstrip, with 0-60, 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times as well as trap speeds. Its an all-in-one device. All most people will ever need. As far as my thoughts on the performance this device adds.... awesome! What more can I say? Easy 20hp, 20ft/lb gain, possibly more, with just the tune. Over 70hp is possible with a pulley swap and tune! The transmission, which is not a high point on this car (one of GMs worst automatics ever), now shifts with more authority and is passable. And if I know the guys at DiabloSport, they'll make it even better in the future. **Hint, hint** What else?? The Trinity is without a doubt, the premiere tuner on the market. If you don't have one, why not? Its only $599, and worth every penny!
