That's a great looking Ciera Coupe. Kudos to finding it and realizing what you got!

The 3.8 is great engine, but they came with a defective timing gear. These gears fail at about 80 to 90,000 miles. When this happens, it causes major damage to the engine. PLEASE look through the maintenance history and make sure it has been replaced with the new steel gear.

If you can't find out, you can inspect the gear by removing a few small parts from the engine and visually inspecting.

this is a rare car. 1986 cutlass ciera GT LG3 3.8 v6 . this car is so fast. i'm the second owner of this beast. my friend took very good care of this car. he is 85 years old. what a great guy. 99,502 on motor. he keep up on everything . it has new AC to.i will keep it as origanal as possible.i'm going to repaint. keep wheels. and get custom wheels for summer.that way i can switch up sometimes.no rust solid.red leather everywhere.great car. i saw one a couple years a go. but not up close.
