CMDAutomotive's 1964 Chevrolet C-10 Pick-UpThis is our Sanford & Son Racing Truck originally built for the Chump Car World Series. This was purchased for $500 and was barely holding together. If you hit it with a hammer, parts will fall off... it actually happened. The idea came to one of the owners of CMD Automotive, Dwight Patterson, in a dream... correction, woke up in a cold sweat from a nightmare. Dwight, along with business partner, Jim Gorman, lead the build with the rest of the CMD team contributing their fair share of blood, sweat, and profanity. She got welded together and got some much needed safety parts so it would be able to make it around the track. The I6 needed to be replaced and we weren't able to find one that was running within a reasonable price, so it was replaced with a much cheaper (& reliable) LQ engine. The stock suspension needed to go as well as 1964 suspension wasn't safe for the track. In order to be safe, used truck arms and springs were installed. The ol' girl got some brakes and a rear end as well... all in the name of safety. Now we are just waiting on our official invite to the 2011 Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge sponsored by Pirelli!
