Z34Phoenix's 1996 Chevrolet Monte CarloThis Page is to document my Z34's next evolution...3800 Engine Swap & M90 Supercharger! Update: 10/6/2011 my DOHC is no more. Timing jumped and it is not cost effective to replace the Timing Belt. The best bet is to get a L36 top swap and 4t65eOct 13 2011 Engine, Trany, Topswap, and SD headers show up at shopNov 3rd 2011 Engine Swap RunningDec 23 2011 Car running great. Porting of topswap parts begin. Mar 29 2013 Took car to track and put down 14.95 in 1/4est june or july 2013?? Install of topswap Project Goals:*Efficiency* *Reliability* *Power* *Fresh Look* Yes i know the "Cheep, Fast, Reliable pick only two" I want to have my cake and eat it too. So, i want a 3800 SC that responds well off and on boost. To do this i plan to port the BBV passage and smooth the inlet and outlet of the M90 to optimize the air flow for both NA and Boost. Running a topswapped/ high compression bottom end i will retain off boost power and reduce the amount of boost needed. By porting the heads and gasket matching the top end, temperatures will be decreased and KR tolerance will increase. Next i will build up the handling of the car. I plan to swap the cast iron strut knuckles off the back and switch to aluminum ones off of the newer montes. Also grand am brakes are said to fit and are aluminum. Then get steel braided brake lines, new rotors and perf pads.
