The seller of the speedometer sounds like an asshole.  If I was not so desperate I would retract my bid right now.January 10, 2010So no luck with eBay.  I ended up retracting my bid on the speedometer because the seller was a prick.  The steering wheel was delayed for 2 weeks before they realized it was not shipped.  So I cancelled that too.So far, I am expecting for the new dash top and the trunk lid lip spoiler to arrive today thanks to a member of R3V limited.  I also got a front lip spoiler off of ebay from a dismantler in Sacramento. But I didn't realize it was only the 1" one.  Found one I like on craigslist but the owner is not budging.MOre updates to come soon.My dash top and trunk spoiler arrived today and I'm excited.  Although the search for an engine is still dampening my mood. January 12, 2010I finally bought an engine, well, a whole car for that matter.  It's 1987 325i with only 63,290 miles on it.  I repeat, 63,290 miles only.  CARFAX VERIFIED.  I am so happy.  The interior is in excellent shape.  All tools are intact.  So I might swap the interior out.The Tree Hugger

Looks kinda nice.I took the Speedo and AC/Stereo panel today so I can install the OBD and try to figure out the wiring.  Also, I'm gonna swap out the center console.  I think I'm gonna hold off on selling some of the stuff from my donor car till I am finished with the build.Makes sense. January 28, 2011Speedometer Housing SwapThe 89 speedo doesn't work so I figured I'm gonna replace it with the donor car's speedo.  Although the 87 housing was damaged from the crash, so I'm gonna just swap the housing and the SI board.I also fixed the speedo cluster on the 89.  Now the new engine and speedo are synced.

May 6, 20115 months have passed since I bought this car and finally I drove her home today.  I got to test her on the freeway and find out what other things needs to be addressed.  This is the first time, I am driving this long distance.  A week ago, I drove it around the block from the shop to get it smogged and it failed so I had to leave it there and get the catalytic converter from 1990 325iS that I am parting out.  Finally, it passed.Issues that need to be addressed:1.  Seatbelt latches: - front passenger side does not latch completely. - rear seatbelts does not have latches.2.  Stereo installation and premium speaker retrofit3.  Swap comfort seats into sport seats.4.  Replace brakes and some suspension and steering components.   - control arms - ball joints - bushings - tie rods5.  Tires needs some love and would love to get a hold of Apex ARC 8 or Beyern 17s or the ESM 002.6.  Install IS Lip and trunk spoiler = DONE7.  Replace fog lights. = DONE8.  Replace the ellipsoids and install HIDs as soon as they arrive.9.  Auto detail including engine bay. =  STEAMED CLEANED IT 10.  Replace the ignition and lock cylinders so I have one key for all.11.  Remove (Replace?) tint.12.  Hoping to swap out tan interior for a black one. Tonight I tried wiring the harness for the stereo and it was more confusing than ever.  The previous owner's wiring was a hot mess.  Plus, I wanted to put in premium speakers where there was none.

December 20, 2010FROM THE GRAVE, TO THE BRAVE.Click here for some Used Car Parts from Miata, Volvo and BMW.So I got this car today 12.20.2010.  Engine is shot.  Scouted for a replacement and my best quote was for $700 delivered for a M20.  I was hoping to swap it out for a M50.  SOHC vs DOHC, of course I'll go for DOHC.  But what is really involved in converting into an M50 from an M20?  That's what I want to know.Labor is gonna cost me I know that for sure.  But luckily, my brother owns Tire Broker and Auto Services in SF so that can be prearranged.This is just the first of many updates that I will be making as I journey into the restoration of this E30, bringing its glory back.Attached are the photos I took at the shop as it awaits the engine replacement.  Anyone who has good advice is welcome to comment.  If you have any parts that you think I might be able to use, let me know.

So I will set aside that goal and plan it wisely so I basically just use the stock wiring.  I will get the stock wiring from my donor car to make it easier on me.  I've taken it out completely off the car anyways.  It's just a matter of locating it.Some photos as she sits now...  I was really surprised since I heard a lot of negative things about the Tokico Coilovers, but they were pretty good.  Not bouncy at all for me or my passengers.  So that was pretty much a good buy.  I don't drive that much, and I like the low for show so, yeah, bang for my buck.  If I am not happy with them, I can always swap them out for my Bilsteins that sitting on my iS right now.

May 8, 2010Got a lot of things done today.  I painted the IS lip, the brake ducts, cleaned and replaced the broken fog lamps.  Drove to the Shack to get some stuff for my wiring and then took that chance to buy some Simple Green Max to steam clean the engine.  It looks better now.  Also used some liquid rubbing compound on the front end of the car to remove the grease stains.  I also swapped out my ellipsoid for another set that I have that had shiny, chrome rings on it.
