Here's a peak at the new look, what do you think?
Welcome. This site is dedicated to the transformation of My 1990 Base 4 door Lumina into something it never was but IMO should have been. My goal is to accomplish this using almost nothing but factory GM parts. The first stage is finding all the parts and actually getting it built. The second is the complete tear-down and refinishing of the entire car. The first stage will certainly take sometime to complete, as I'm doing so much to this car. Have a look around and see what I'm talking about.

Finally tracked down most of the parts I needed and custom built what I couldn't get, but she's in. Had a few issues which I thought were threatening a re-pull, but infact they were very minor simple fixes ie... inspection cover hitting the flywheel, air in clutch master/slave, wrong ECM, CLEARANCE!!!!! All is well now and she runs beautifully, trans seems to be good as well .... thank god. Now to finish the body and paint work, plus I still have a couple rims to refinish and whatever else remains.

Notice the new redline and lack of fuel. LOL

It's been a long time with no update, so here's a sneak peak of some progress that's been/being made. I will do a full update when the car is totally finished.
3.4L Twin Dual Cam with Getrag 5-spd waiting to be dropped in.
New 91 subframe installed, everything ready to be put back together.
05/10/05
Got the front STB installed, after considerable work it clears the hood and engine, and certainly helps out the handling.
03/20/05
Finally after 8 months I found grey interior Lumina to donate parts of it's door panels. Here's the after, next time it will have power windows and locks from the factory.
03/06/05
Got the new Digi Dash buttons installed and am very happy with them now. Installed an Under Dash Console in place of the useless original ashtray, besides adding another little cubby it also has floor lighting. Installed an OHC as well, the OHC has a switch that allows me to disable the interior lights when the doors are open. Also changed the lighting in the DIC and seat controls from red to green. There are only a few things left and the interior will be completed, making it the most heavily optioned 1st gen Lumina period.

It was a ton of work but it turned out great, yet another first for a gen1 Lumina. I now own the only Lumina with a CS UB3 Digital Dash.
02/16/05
Finally finished putting the power mirrors in my car. Also installed an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
01/09/05
Here's a before and after shot of my 3 point upper mounts. They are both drivers side mounts from '90 GP 5-spds. It's a fair bit of work to file out all the seams and refinish, but I think they look great.
12/24/04
Finally moved the battery to the trunk and got the CAI done. Haven't had a chance to see what difference it's made, not that it matters cause it's for the turbo anyway.
10/07/04
Got a few new parts. New grille w/emblem to replace the one some retard tried to steal and broke. All the inner wheel wells to replace the base ones and match up to the Z bumpers and the 3.4L/284 MEMCAL. Also added a few pics on page 9 including a couple of my digital dash project that with the exception of the finishing bezel is complete.

Not much has changed in the last while. I had a shift cable break on me so I got a shfter and cables from a '90 GP. I also had the clutch pedal rod modified so now my clutch pedal sits where it should and works properly. They found my other lumina and I bought it back for $125 which was great. I swapped in the old column from the Z, bought a new window($16)and trunk lid($16)and it's good to go. Funny thing was they only drove it 4 blocks and ripped the stereo and stole anything of any value out of it, bastards!I just put the factory deck and speakers back in, go and steal that you little shits!!
07/01/04
Finally got around to wiring up the DIC which is certainly a lot harder to install in a Lumina than a GP or Cutty. I still have a bit more work to make use of all the icons of the STE DIC, but all the standard functions work.
I also got two new c-pillars to replace the damaged one I had. Replaced the lower motor mount which helps a lot cause the original one was trashed, just wish I'd replaced it when I swapped tranny's.
06/10/04 Got all the wiring done on the 5th and all windows/locks are working fine. I also bought an alarm I just have to install the immobilizers and LED. I got the new c-pillar moldings installed to find the one is ruined, so I have to buy yet another piece of interior trim for my car.
06/04/04 I bought a whole set of doors off a '92 Euro today. So now I have power windows and locks although I haven't finished the interior wiring. Man the cars really looking like a mutt, currently there are 2 off colours in my interior but everything will be dyed to match once it's ready. And now the 4 white doors with that attractive molding, yeah!! Besides the engine the rest of the car is nearly complete and just needs finishing.
05/31/04 I Got the STE buckets installed, I also installed the gp console with the DIC, which I still need to wire up. What an improvment to the interior of this car. I also got the STE side skirts installed, which help finish the look of the car. I may still change the skirting later but they're good enough for now and they only cost $15. The car's really starting to take shape and it's heading in the direction I want it. My goal is to try and do this with almost nothing but factory GM parts, so far so good.
05/24/04
Been spending quite a bit on the car the last few days. Thursday I got another set of factory 16's and tires.Friday it got all new struts w/mounts, tie rod ends, and ball joints installed plus alignment. Saturday I got a new Pioneer DEH-7600MP, 1 Farad Stinger Cap, Monster 4 GA. wiring, plus everything else needed to install. I'm installing power buckets out of an STE but haven't decided if I'll keep the buttons on the console. Right now I have the factory console and have changed the steering column because mine had the shifter on it. I've done so much but still have so much left to do.
05/13/04
I Finally finished the 5-speed swap!!!!!
It was soooo worth all the blood, sweat and beers. The car is savage as hell, it just wants to roast them. I still have a lot of work to do, new parts to put on for suspension and brakes and .......
I can't wait till it's done but I don't regret for a second doing all this to a Lumina, I personally think it's a better car them my '99 GP.
04/18/04
Well Some little goof stole my car on the 12th. I don't know why they keep going after that one I did however just put mags and tires on it. Thankfully it's not the Z it's safely locked up in my shop. I also removed components from my '65 Belair's ignition to ensure no one's driving it anywhere.
04/10/04
My 3100 MPFI.
03/23/04
I finally started the 5-speed swap. I forgot how much work it was to install the pedals, I'd say the pedals are the hardest part of the whole thing. Will update when I get it done, but I'm sure it will take awhile as I don't even have half the parts I need including the tranny.
