slowepoke's 1995 BMW M3
2010 Pirelli Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge - coming to Virginia International Raceway in July
I would really love to participate in the and see how my budget track car competes against the 'heavies'. PLEASE VOTE!!!

I've owned and driven a lot of european marquees over the years, but there is a reason you find so many BMW's at Track and AutoX events. They are well built and offer great performance right from the factory. Now, not many people can afford to bring a 2009 M5 to the race track but, the e36 3 series (1991-1999) are abundant, relatively easy to work on, and have come down in price enough to make very attractive track day candidates.
This particular car a 1995 M3 had a salvage title and 210,000 miles on it when I purchased making it easy for me to strip and prep as I wish without a guilty conscious and saved some money in the process. The car was in decent mechanical shape when I acquired it leavying me to concentrate on other areas of improvement and getting it ready for track duty.
