THE COMPLETE AND UNABRIDGED HISTORY:
The OLD Mali--->

maliboo81's 1981 Chevrolet Malibu

Captain's LOG(haha, log!) Stardate 90210.:
August 3, 06, trying to get the damn car in one hunk of junk piece so I can hobble my way back to South Dakota.

Dec. 31, 05- Broke. Need money. Cacapoopoopeepeeshire.
Thats the History!

Apr. 10, 05 -
Well, Radical decision changes - 327 TPI Turbo with a 100 shot of nitrous, a muncie m-21 4 speed running camaro rear discs with 3.55 gears. I just did a 2 door conversion and hood scoop add, and will make hideaway headlights,shaved header panel, front and rear valances with sideskirts and cadillac taillights, and whatever else tickles my creative little brain.

Well, its February 2005, and the 4.3's rod bearings went out, which is ok, because the Maliboo is now in Street Rod at Wyotech going through a 2 door conversion. My pictures on the 4th page of the projected exterior outcome show what I want to do.

Meanwhile I'm going to rebuild the 4.3 W/forged internals, bored .030 over, cammed out, roller everything 1.94 intake and 1.97 exhaust valves, ported and polished Edelbrock intake and heads, the Holley throttle body and one or two turbos running intercooled with an MSD ignition system pushing a 200-4r to a Ford 9 inch with 3.55 gears spinnning 18" Torque Thrust IIs wearing 295/45 Yokohama or Dunlop rubber that are stopped by 4 wheel Wilwood discs and absorbed by an all Eibach suspension with Energy bushings. wow. Oh eyah, re upholster the interior in all black cloths and silver fiberglass panels moulded to my stereo components. I think that covers it!

NOW!(Jan 10, 2004) on to the next stage. I am currently selling a buncha crap on ebay and am going to buy an old 283 from my friend for 125, complete, been running. Then I shall rebuild it and build it up to a 287. Fairly mild, perhaps 300-350 horse. The rebuilding stage will be a while, hopefully I'll be done for my senior prom in April ;). But for now I'll be working on my motorcycles!

Well... a long long time ago.. in a tiny town far far away.....

I was a freshman in high school in 2000 and needed a car. Well, my uncle had this COOL looking car sitting, so I'm like, I want it! So I bought it for 900 dollars. Now, it was ROUGH at first. I drove it home on a winter night and thought "IM THE SHIT!" but it was rough. The carburetor was(still is) TRASH cuz the choke coil is out, it had the factory 229 CID,3.8 L v-6 :( (still does) and WORST of ALL... NO RADIO!
Well, I HAVE to have music to cruise to, so first thing first, I bought an old Sony from my friend and put that in. Ran it and a barely used RAMPAGE?!?! for about a year. Behind this was some cheezy under dash speakers, a pair of Pioneer 4 inchers, and a pair of Phase III's my dad had since the early eighties. THOSE bitches sound CRISP!!!!!! Finally, in the rear was a USAcoustics 2150 (500w) powering 4 NO NAMED... well ok, MICAudio :S 4 300watt handling 10s in my trunk. Sounded pretty decent. Well, they pounded hard but didnt have good definition.

I put my money into other stuff like an '80 Yamaha MX 175, and 6 guitars, and a like, what.....14 piece MUTT drumset;) I dropped the exhaust once, busted the leftside exhaust manifold another time, replaced the heater fan, just little stuff. Next Winter, I bought a Clarion DX515 Head Unit, a pair of Kicker 4X10s, and replaced the old saggy headliner with nice new white tigerstripe stuff :DNow i have FURRY stuff I gotta put in.

NEW PAINT!:D->

The BIG change came last spring. I was looking at getting my car repainted and I knew there was some rust under my vinyl roof..... WELL, Estimates for the ROOF ALONE were 500-1000 dollars! WELL, I was 16, and decided to take it off myself... factory ugly Gold, MUD and RUST were all that i saw..... :S Well after grinding, bondo, and lotsa spray paint, it didn't look too bad. I thought, HELL this bodywork shit is kinda fun! SO. I set out to my local Hedahl's parts plus in late summer and put $500 into paint and a gun and supplies (+ a gallon of bond which was needed!). Well, RIGHT before I painted, my amp went out :(. We won't discuss the shitty sytem I ran for the next 6 months.... a SMALL Kicker I got assraped on, and a Road Gear... :S. My friend Jason let me use his barn to paint in, and I put up a plastic booth. Well, working between Football, school, and two jobs was hard to do.... so it took me 3 months! but once in a while I'd go out and work on it. Meanwhile, I drove my (shared with my mom) 1990 Mustang LX....4 popper.... 5 speed.... but I got another page for that. Anyways, I'd bet I have 40 pounds worth of bondo into my car, and another 5 pounds in paint.... NO JOKE.. the ONLY CLEAN panel is my front left fender. But im going to re-do each panel down to bare metal and repaint them this year throughout the fall.

BONDO CITY!

I got the Maliboo out of Jason's barn in late October... didnt mask well when doing the stripes... ended up doing another finish coat of black in Kent's (my buddys dad) garage. I threw her on a set of Oldsmobile Rallies and 4 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s. Back set WAS 275/60, but the damned Olds backspacing wouldnt allow it. So I put the front ones (235/70s which would have rubbed there also) on the back,a nd traded the back ones for two 225/60s? I dont remember. Well, I STILL had to space the back ones, and the front tires STILL rub when turned far enough. maliboo81's 1981 Chevrolet Malibu
FINISHED!

TWO WEEKS later, I was backing thru our School parking lot... slid and slammed into TWO of our teachers's cars. The first one (an Impala) scratched my fender, and busted ass his bumper. The SECOND was my coach's pickup..... MAULED my left rear quarter :( put a ding 3 inches around and an inch deep in his corner of his rear right quarter (which by the way he just put a claim in for 800 dollars.... I'll just offer to do it for free!). Meanwhile, I ordered a Lanzar Vibe250 (1000w)off Ebay for 120 dollars, shipping incl. :) Thats about as much work as sits in her right now. I'll be adding to the history as I go. I JUST repainted the Mustang, and soon I will be purchasing some sort of V-8 to rebuild and Re-DO each panel 1by1.

Its December, and well, the Maliboo is painted! Over the course of football season I sanded down my last coat of paint, and epoxy primered each panel one by one. I should have used surfacer though because my drill sander marks show up in the paint now :P. You can see all of my bodywork pics on the bodywork page. But yes, I bought a 20 dollar spoiler from a junkyard that is mild but looks nice, and I got a set of hood pins too :D

After SOME TIME my friends dad Kent finally got power to his garage cuz the city screwed up but yeah. Anyway, Kent let me paint my car in there again (NICE GUY!:D) and this time I did all black, silver tapered stripes up the hood body lines, a oldschool corvette lookin silver design downt he side, separated from the black by chrome trim, chrome wheel well trim, repainting the rims, and finally, a silver pinstripe with TINY silver faded into blue tipped flames running down the pinstripe and around my keyholes. VERY fun.

Looks AWESOME but I have a spot of silver dust on top of the black under the clearcoat :P (I used base/clear system this time) my razor cuts from the flames (which I have approximately 7 hours into drawing masking and cutting out!) are a little deep and scratched in some spots, and finally, some of my sanding marks show through :( but I am VERY pleased how well my DAILY DRIVER turned out. Now I will be working on the engine!

Being too lazy to read through my own history I'll just say that I recently bought an Xtant 1244 12 inch sub, and might buy another. I also wont have my engine in by prom time :) I need MONEY!
I am now running my friend's Audiobahn A1800E mono amp on my Xtant, and it sounds GREAT! Now, I am either going to get a second Xtant, or a pair of Crossfire 10"s.

Its now May and Ive traded the 283 idea for a 350 truck motor. Yeah :D and i also still have the Xtant, but am runing a pair of crossfire 10"s as well off of my old Lanzar.:D LOUD.

As for the 350, the heads were cracked so temporarily, I swapped a 4.3 in from my friends S-10, and am working on putting the 5-speed in. I also bought a new Eclipse deck, so It'll read anything thats possibly readable!s
