The Malibu in its last hours out in the world.
THE MALIBOO.
Aug.2 - I have the Malibu almost off the frame, just need tall jackstands! I'm going to complete the frame mods, paint the frame and underbody with POR-15, then just assemble the darn car with a running smallblock my buddy has. From there, I will continue to modify it until it is completed.

The grand am with: a complete 327 w/heads removed, all accessories, a powerglide transmission, a big yellow tool box,and a craftsman 200 Pc. tool set

LongblockI am building a 327 Lg Journal, all forged internals, balanced, blueprinted, polished, knife-edged crank. I forget the casting of "double-hump" heads I have, but they're ported& polished and will have 1.94/1.70 valves for close to 90% exhaust/intake size ratio. Manley stainless intake valves and If I wanna get crazy, run some titanium or even INCONEL exhaust valves... yeah:)Possibly run TBC coatings on the pistons and maybe parts of the heads too. Beehive springs, titanium keepers/retainers,titanium roller rockers, roller lifters, and a custom grind roller turbo cam. Why a turbo cam? For two bigass turbos:D

Power The whole setup will be run by either a pair of T3/T4 turbos, or a pair of TO4Bs, undecided which yet. Probably start with T3/T4s and if thats not fast enough move up from there. I've seen Camaros with single-TO4B 5.7s that run somewhere around 600+HP if I remember correctly :) These bad boys will be run by TiAL wastegates, be cooled probably by Isuzu NPR or turbonetics intercoolers, and vent or recirculate with HKS Blowoffs. Controlling fuel will be a TPI setup, with custom intake manifold, 48LB/hr injectors, custom fuel rails, feed and return lines, and Buick GN "double pumper" Walbro pump. EFI will be either F.A.S.T. or Megasquirt, probably the latter due to affordability. MSD runs all my ignition :) All of this subject to change, of course.

I was debating between running a M-22 4 speed, or a T-56, but I'm just going to build the PISS out of the Powerglide that I have, and Leave the 2.54 gears for now, and maybe cryotreat them and see what a good gearset for racing with a powerglide will be.

I completed the 2 door conversion and the cobra jet hood scoop fabrication. Next I am doing - well, too much to list, so just keep checking back!

So far I've done an engine swap, put in a badass stereo system, done 2 paint jobs and a 2-door conversion along with hoodscoop fabrication on her. I ripped the old crappy 3.8L 229 out for a 1990 4.3 out of an S-10 which I spun the rod bearings in. So I will be doing a second engine swap and a tranny and rearend swap. Hell, call it a makeover. I plan on doing what I mentioned before to the 327.

I now have a small spoiler on it, and I'm going to drop it with a 2" rake in the rear, urethane bushings, Eibach lowering springs (fully adjustable coilovers)and eventually active air ride system, 4 wheel wilwood or possibly Corvette brakes, and a nice subtle custom fabricated body kit. maliboo81's 1981 Chevrolet Malibumaliboo81's 1981 Chevrolet Malibu

The stereo system will come last, but in the plans will be some nice Eclipse electronics, at least 2000 watts of power running through 3-5 subs of 10"-15" sizes, 2 8"s as well , and 6-8 interior speakers as well as whatever supertweeters come with the component setups. Id like to have a flatscreen on my trunk to show dvds when the trunk is up, but thats a long ways away.
