UPDATE:   THERE IS A TEST AND TUNE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF THIS CAR NOW . WE HAVE HAD TO PARK IT FOR A WHILE AFTER JUST 2 RACES , WE HAVE SOME OIL PRES. ISSUES  AND NO MONEY TO WORK ON IT FOR A WHILE.  GO HERE TO SEE HOW IT GETS  DRIVEN ON THE DIRT !  THEN IMAGINE 20  CARS ALL SIDE BY SIDE TRYING TO WIN IT ON THE FIRST LAP !  SON OF A BITCH MAN !  IT GETS CRAZY IN A HURRY !  I LOVE IT !  SEE VIDEO : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYY4rRWhcaQ

this is the new  body i am making at the moment (mar. 16th, 2010 ) our new season starts mid april and we are close to done . i have to build the engine still , install rear weight jacks and paint the car still . it will be bright orange (vitamin c )  with a white top and i'll be painting it  hopefully this weekend .

i cant wait to see it done . this is the same car as last year that we made the monte carlo body for .

i made all the 57 stuff from scratch . all made out of poster board first  , and then transferred to metal and cut and bent to  what you see .
i made my own sheetmetal brake  to bend up the parts .
the worst part was making the roof . i had to make it out a several pieces  since the  4 corners were compound bends .
i bought a cheap planishing hammer and english wheel  to make the roof .
it's far from perfect  but will look like a 57 chevy while it's on the track . the bumpers are made of plastic off a roll .

at the botom of the page are pics of another 57 owned by tom sprague that we will race against here in michigan . tom is the owner of winston speedway ,  his car is a real 57 body  on a metric frame .

we were gonna paint ours blue till i found out about toms being blue .
more to come soon . ted

below are the first pics of the car opening night  at winston speedway 4-16-2010

we didn't perform very well . had some last minute  issues with our  engine and had to put together our old one  that is not  really suited for the 2bbl carb we have to run now . it will get better as we

go.

update : 4-29-2010 ,

we   were working on installing  the front weight jacks  and  found both lower ball joints were bent ,  we replaced them along with the spindles ,  put steel lower  control arm bushings ,  and tubular upper  a-arms .   and  moved the front shocks  out board of the stock mounting  position .

it should improve  on handling for sure now .  more to come

thanks for the comments , it will be sad when the other drivers smash into our car . it's not a matter of "if" they will , it's "how bad" they will . i'll post some video after our season starts . ted
