Hmmm..yeah.

tmwalmart's 1991 Ford Bronco

So I was going to put my crank in the other day, but when I went to put the main bearings on (no I wasn't going to put them on with the main caps on; it's just for the picture) I clearly noticed that they were too small. I looked up the part # for the bearings and saw that the ones I had were for a 302. Same with the rod bearings.

I emailed the place I ordered them from though and they are making good on it. They took the blame for the mistake and emailed me a UPS shipping label and are going to send me out the right bearings. They should be back to me on the 30th.

I painted my block with a few more coats of paint. Doesn't look as orange anymore. lol

Do not mind that Asian newspaper that it is covered with. I have no idea where it came from but it was in our recycling. lol Oh yeah. And I broke down and bought an engine stand since I couldn't find any cheap/nearby ones on craigslist.

- Block put in spray washer again and scrubbed down really good

I'll let the pics do the talking. I've had the crank for awhile but never put up a pic.

Update: 3/21/07

Well I have the block bored .025 over and then the rest will be honed to the final .030 over. Next I'm going to start reconditioning the rods (possibly today). I decided not to buy the Eagle $1k rotating assembly and am going to just buy parts separately 'cause it will be cheaper. Plus I'm reusing my stock rods. I bought a Hawks Racing 393 crank w/Ford rod journals. I had ordered some KB pistons but the guy sent me flat tops and I wanted dished heads so I sent them back. I will be ordering new ones soon. Hopefully I can get the rotating assembly and the camshaft in before this class is over. It would be nice having the help to make sure that I do it right. I'm sure I can handle the rest myself. Here's a list of all the parts that I plan on using. It's going to cost alot but I don't ever plan on selling my Bronco so it will be worth it. :)

- Hawks Racing 351W Stroker Crank
- Keith Black Premium Hypereutectic .030 Over 302 -22cc Dish Top Pistons (KB-364)
- Brass Freeze Plugs Kit

- Melling Heavy Duty Intermediate Drive Shafts (MEL-IS-83)
- Crane CompuCam Cam and Lifter Kits (CRN-444232)

Also some upgrades to my E4OD tranny couldn't hurt. Help prevent it from overheating.

- B&M Supercooler Oil Cooler (BMM-70274)
- Perma-Cool Remote Mount Oil Thermostat (PRM-1060)
- Perma-Cool Remote Oil Filter Brackets (PRM-1791)

- Pinion Seal (Not for the tranny but it is leaking and needs to be replaced anyways)

After all this my Bronco will be leak free. :)

Update: 2/19/07

Wow! It's been awhile since I updated this page. Haven't put anything new on my Bronco in awhile. I bought a '98 Ford Ranger last year so I've been paying that off, and my quad riding hobby takes up money too. But this year all my money will be going into my Bronco. No new parts for my quad.

So the engine seized up on me a few days after Xmas. It was eating oil and coolant anyways so it was time for a rebuild. I was going to just rebuild it but then I thought I would like some more power out of so I am going to stroke it to a 393. I've been doing a lot of research on it so that I can get it to run right, and since I live in CA so that I'll still pass smog. It's going to cost alot more than just rebuilding it but it'll be worth it in the end. I'm doing all the work on it so I'll save on labor. It's actually halfway taken apart at my school 'cause I get to use it as a class project in my Engine Shortblock class. I can clean, machine, magnaflux there. I'll update later once I get some parts. I'm going to buy the rotating assembly first and the one I want is about $1k.

Here's a pic of when I was getting ready to pull the engine. I will post a few more later.

NICE TRUCK! I just bought the same one! I see you got the softop for it... Question for you, with the soft top installed can you still put on the hard top or do you have to completely remove the softop in order to do so?
