After working all day and into the night "Wife's Bane" finally gets that Heart Transplant. The car is getting setup for SCCA Solo racing, so you will not see alot of thrills. Because I what to race her I have also been thinking about paint all the chrome black (except for the flip Top Fuel cover).

Here she is just before surgery.

340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger Once the engine was pulled I cleaned up the front end and painted it flat black. The front end suspension part are in really good condition, except for the torison bar aduster on the passenger side. I tried to lower the front end and broke it. I have purchased two new adjusters from Mancini Racing and we are going to change them out along with bigger torison bars and new heavy duty leaf springs this July. I have plans to completely rebuild the front end suspension with poly bushings but that will have to wait for now.

340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger Notice that the Master Cylinder is missing, It was leaking brake fluid all over. I am going to replace it as soon as the part comes in.

Now surgery begins.
340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger In this picture you can see that I replaced the motor mounts (Mancini Racing) and install a new starter. What you can't see for example is the Flow Kooler High Volume water pump. I would have done more to the engine, but since it is a matching number engine, I did not want to do alot of changes to it. That work is going into a different small block which will have big block power and torque. More on that later.

340badass's 1972 Dodge ChallengerWe had only two minor problems installing the motor back into the car. The first problem was getting the trans and block back together. The torque converter did not want to set into the trans pump, with a little work, we finally got the trans into place. Then the motor mounts did not want to line up, but all we had to do was jack up the trans a little bit and they finally went into place. So all in all the engine and trans install went very smoothly.

340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger With the fenders off, it was easier to maneuver the engine around into place and to finish installing.

Later that night:

340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger After handling the engine, it got real dirty but it did not take much to clean it back up, I have some pictures of the engine all nice an clean. I will post once I get them developed.

340badass's 1972 Dodge Challenger You can see the new Carter Electric Fuel Pump and Oil filter relocation kit. I also installed an aluminum radiator and an Electric fan with 2010 cfm.
