"The Mercedes-Benz 200 is a mature, compact and easy-to-handle vehicle which demonstrates its outstanding value day after day. Its 4-cylinder petrol engine, producing 95 DIN/hp (= 70kW), is a power unit which has proved itself a hundred thousand times and provides good performance. This engine is not tuned like that of a sports car. Its strength lies in its excellent flexibility and high engine speeds. The Mercedes-Benz 200 is suitable for the smooth, relaxed driver as it is for the live-wire motorist.
Carburation is by a crossdraught carburettor which ensures the best possible fuel/air mixture at all engine speeds. The engine output characteristics are similar to those of a fuel injection engine, especialy when accelerating from the lower speed ranges.
The 200 seats five people comfortably, yet its compact body design and exterior dimensions make it easy to handle in traffic. A test drive will very soon show you that the seating and interior comfort are unrivalled. The passenger space, designed as a safety cell, is surrounded by a complete system of sound-absorbing components. Engine and passenger compartments are hermetically seperated.
The driver always has both the front and the rear of the car well within his field of vision. Driving into or out of parking spaces is no longer a question of hit-or-miss, you know the exact size of your car. There are layers of rubber insulation on all connection points to prevent vibrations and tyre or engine noises from being transferred to the body.
As in all vehicles in the passenger car programme, the entire range of Mercedes-Benz safety features is incorporated in the 200."

Here is a 1975 Mercedes-Benz 200, bodystyle 115. This model was not offered in North America at any point. It is yet another "Europe Only" car. This car is extremely rare and has an amazing story.
The car has full records, and I do mean full.
It was all in the glove box with the manual - receipts etc.
The vehicle was purchased by a German gentleman, Reinhard Stoss. The date of delivery was March 19, 1975 in Flensburg, Germany. The vehicle was actually manufacturaed in Stuttgart, Germany by Daimler-Benz.
In 1989, it was purchased by a Canadian gentleman in the Military, Sgt. Fred Coleman, whom was serving in Germany at the time. The vehicle was shipped was fully restored on that year by Walldorf Motors (Hawranke GmbH) in Heidelberg, Germany. It was shipped to Canada in 1991. Other assorted lube jobs and small repair bills were in the collection, along with the manuals and service journals in German.
I purchased the vehicle on July 04, 2003. It was at Edmonton Pick Your Part, an auto wrecker. They had this car as a "special" for $700 Canadian. I was going there with Bruce to see if there were any 114/115 bodystle Mercedes for our '74 280 (which is now a parts car). We needed fenders. We stepped two steps into the junkyard and saw this beauty. I bought it in a heartbeat, especially when I heard some other people were talking about picking it up, and I knew it wouldn't last long!

A lot less options than our 4.5, but this vehicle is a lot rarer than the 4.5. The resale values are very impressive, and that's what it is worth in England where there are a lot more of these cars than here. It's logical that they are actually worth more here.
Tory, one of the new owners of this one of a kind, ultra rare Mercedes-Benz at the junk yard. We think this may be one of a hand full, if not the only 200 in North America. I am told when I go for parts that "that engine does not exsist", even Mercedes has trouble finding it.
This engine is equipped with an Inline 4, 2.0L (1,988cc), Carburated, 4 Speed Manual. This vehicle produces 95 bhp @ 5200 rpm / 122 lb/ft @ 3800 rpm at the wheels.
European headlights aka "Pagoda Lights". Notice that the headlights, turn signals and the fog lights are integrated into one unit. The 115 bodystyle may be common, but these lights are not.
Side shot of the vehicle.
Mint interior. Complete! Some stains, but a major cleaning is tomorrow.
The front seats. The way the car was, when we brought it home.
Headrests in the back seats of these vehicles were non exsistant in North America.
Trunk in mint condition. Cleaned up now. The underside of this car has been coated with rust inhibitors. There is no rust in the trunk or the floor, which is quite an oddity. The only rust on this car is really on the back fenders. This will be fixed.
The rear glass defogger. It feeds directly from the gas supply to produce heat quickly. These are -extremely- rare in North American Mercedes. There are some outfitted on Volkswagen Beetles and Microbuses. This system aftermarket is illegal in North America. I love the back window without those stupid defogger lines - very clean and adds a nice classic, old touch to the car.
