Bought my 1985 GMC High Sierra K1500 4x4 August 2008.Had a 4 inch Rancho suspension lift, miss matched 35x12.5x15 half bald tires and rims, no brakes at all, and headers rusted out in multiple spots, seat springs were broke and drivers floor rotted out, Bed sides were damn near gone. 350 engine was recently rebuilt with a comp cam and ran great. Here is what it looked like then.Took about 2 weeks to come up with the money I needed for a whole brake system. Calipers, pads, drums, shoes, lines, and booster. For the record I hate bleeding brakes. Bought some used headers from a friend for $30. Bought some of that rocker can ceramic header paint that worked better than I thought it would. Headers are still silver a year later. All the ugly red crap is gone and now chrome.Found some roll bars for $25. I bought some very used 33x12.5x15 RVT's for $100 painted the rally wheels I had and mounted the tires myself the old fashioned way. They came out perfect and didn't shake at all and without being balanced. That's the 2nd set I have done that with. Found some 16/38.5x15 Grand Prix RVT's mounted on centerline aluminum rims. Tires were junk. Rims were in good shape but needed a good cleaning/polishing. Drove the truck through winter and ended up finding some 35x12.5x15 mud kings for $300. Threw them on the centerlines and then on the truck. I loved those rims. Decided I didn't like the bed rails with the roll bars and removed them. Found a decent shape box for $100. Had holes in the floor but my floor was still good. I just used the bed sides. Took a couple days and wire wheeled the insides then sprayed the bedliner up in between the panels and the inside of the sides.
