Hey! My name is Dave and I am the proud owner of a 1984 Mazda RX-7 GS. I've owned this car for about 2 years now.
It has been very reliable, much much more than the Ford Tempo I sold to get it!
Here I am, far from home, and my speedo cable comes off! I guess after 1000+ kilometers of driving something had to happen!
The first thing I did to the car when I got it...was install a K&N airfilter...but after that, some of the real modifications began that started unleashing some of the rotary's power.
Emissions...don't need them!
The various vaccuum hoses and sensors that comprise the stock 12a's emissions nest were thrown in the garbage along with the airpump.
All the exposed vaccuum leaks were delt with silicone plugs...and the gaping hole left from taking off the airpump was sealed by a custom cardboard gasket (old school!) and a fabricated block off plate.
trying out different styles of strut tower bars
After that, the next thing I had to do was get rid of the AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!!
Yep, this car was plagued with a 4 speed automatic!!!! The 5 speed put in by CP Racing, really made the car liven up!! It went from slow to "holy shit im going to kill myself fast"!!!
So, after that, I was already at the shop so I put in a beautiful blue Triangulated Strut Tower Bar that was matched to the colour of the aircleaner!
CP Racing's Triangulated Strut Tower Bar really stands out!
By this time, it's summer 2003. During the winter I had a Racing Beat Header and 2 1/4 inch stainless steel straight pipe exhaust tipped off with a Magnaflow free flow muffler.
It's, uhmmmm...really really really really loud!!!
I'm going deaf...but it sounds, so good!!!
Kinda like a cross between a dirt bike and a blender set on pur?e.
I also had some Solid Motor Mounts installed. They look like bright red hockey pucks...but believe me, they are solid steel! :D
That's me in the car...my friend Mike stuck in that weird pose as if he's walking towards the car or something! Looking good, my car, especially after a good 400km trip! Took a bit of polishing though, you can tell in the engine bay pics the finish was really dull before.
Currently I'm doing weight reduction!!!
I must've took out 200lb's worth of shit from the interior, no stereo, no a/c, no power steering, no power windows, OH YEAH!!!
Next, I'm going to:
Install a electric fan.
Holley, Mikuni or Weber carb.
Mikuni or custom intake manifold.
Bride Seats
And for some porting: Bridgeport!
Me in the middle of a whole crapload of rotary goodness in Ottawa, Ontario!
This thing isn't done! Come back once and a while, there's bound to be something new!!! :D
Maybe even some crazy pictures of me and my friends drifting!
