I found "POPSTOY" on Craigslist and was completely smitten as soon as I laid eyes on her, but my Son and I went for a test drive anyway ( because it was the right thing to do ) and checked for working lights and such. Although "POPSTOY" does have some things that need to be fixed ...( what Chevette with 149,000 miles dosen't )...her 78HP Engine, with a 2 Barrel Carb, runs really good and appears to have been pretty well maintained. Then there's the fact that over all she is just too straight and solid for any self respecting Chevette Lover to pass up. On her maiden voyage home "POPSTOY" ran very well with no signs of any smoke or any problems with the 4-speed. She currently has a Cherry Bomb Muffler, that is a little too noisy for me, that exits the exhaust in front of the right rear wheel. I've got a 2" inlet/outlet Spintech Muffler that will be installed, in the very near furure, along with a new 2" tailpipe going out the back. I got her up to 60mph on Old Highway 99 on the way home and felt that was fast enough. 50-55mph is a little more comfy.
