I'll admit that I have an obsession with window tint.

This is one of the first mods that I did to the truck with my own money. Went to Ziebart in Boardman Ohio. Paid $95 to have 20% Johnson tint (not sure what model) installed on the truck. 12/05

In 1/2008 I decided to have the window tint redone since my body man got overspray onto the tint and decided to use a razor blade to remove it. Well you get the gist of it. I was pretty ticked off. Ended up taking the truck back to Ziebart to have them retint the front 2 windows and this time install tint on the back window. Went with Johnson 20% on the front and Johnson 20% on the sliding rear window. This tint does look more black than the original tint I had one. Again not sure what model it was. Little did I know how dark the rear window actually was.

7/2009 I purchased a tint meter. Came from tintmeterwarehouse.com $75

Okay let me explain, if you in the market to have window tint installed remember that I said that I had 20% tint installed. Depending on what the tint specs are and the factory tinted glass, your tint meter will show a 4-5% difference than what the tint you chose to have installed. Example 20% tint will be about 15%-16% VLT on the tint meter. After doing some research I believe I had Johnson Marathon marked as 20% actually 18% from the specs that Ziebart used on my truck.

In 8/09 I once again to have different tint installed. 14% tint makes it difficult to see at night in my opinion and especially when your towing something. Also there was some creases in the tint from when it was installed and Ziebart went out of business right afterwards so I was stuck with a crap tint installation. So I decided to go with 38% Llumar Jet series tint. Went to Buff N stuff Warren ohio. Turns out this tint was economy tint and I paid $90 for it. Junk tint by the way. Came out to be 34% on the tint meter. I hate this tint and will be changing it in the near future. There is tiny bubbles all through it and it is way too light in my opinion.

11-21-2009. Got the window tint done. Went with 26% about 21%-22% on tint meter Johnson Marathon tint. This is the same tint and % as well applied to my 300M. I'm not too sure if I like the exterior color of the tint. It matches the factory tint pretty close I think. But this tint is a Hybrid metallic and dyed film. The 15% that I had in the beginning was too dark and made it hard to see out of at night or while towing something. Gave the truck a wash and wax this week. It hasn't been waxed since August or so.

2/2010

Here are some images of the window tint out in the sunlight. Both of my vehicles have the same window tint. Johnson Marathon 26%

After getting my windows retinted on my 300M to Johnson Marathon 20% 15%-16% on window tint meter I'm thinking about getting the truck redone again.
