The Tear Down
I found a donor motor out of a '78 Chrysler. It's a 400 RB Big Block with a 727 transmission.

A little back ground here on the truck. The truck is a D100 custom, only option it has is power brakes. When I got the truck it was a pale yellow, almost beigee. I drove the truck for 11 years before completely wearing out the slant 6 motor. Because of the sentimental value, I kept the truck and decided to build a hot rod using some old school techniques.

I wanted the truck simple as possible under the hood. I removed the fenderwells, lean burn control, hood latch cable and hood latch, horns and any excess wiring. It really gave it a much cleaner look.

The Resurrection begins
After several hours of sanding and grinding, the engine compartment got several coats of matte black Rust Olem.
