This is my 1977 Plymouth Volare Roadrunner. It has a 318 V8 and is really fast. I got it from my grandpa and we've been restoring it for a while. We hope to get new tires, wheels, paintjob, and engine. We were thinking a 383 but not quite sure yet.

Oh, a 318 will get the job done allright. I drove a '72 Scamp in high school for a while. It had a 318 with an offy (i think) intake, Carter 4bbl, a lumpy old mopar performance grind cam somebody put in it, headers, dual exhaust, and flowmasters. Somebody had put a lot of work in the suspension on it too. It was stripped down, manual brakes, no ac, etc, but it would flat out get it in acceleration. I've driven one car that was faster, my dad's '71 R/T Charger, with a whole lot of work done to the 440 in it. Still, until you got over 110 or so, that little scamp was a match for anything else I ever ran into. I wouldn't have ever wanted to pit my Trans Am against it either. There's something about a 318, its a small cube motor for sure, but they can definitely be built to run way outside their weight class.

BIG BLOCK SMALL BLOCK? I had a 77 RR in my late teens back in the early 80's 340 first 440 next back to 340 Quicker in 1/8 mile. Local Ford & GM boys with big blocks/small blocks and watery eyes. Why watery eyes? dust, fumes are the fact they just got ripped by a lowly small block MOPAR.I had car come close to getn me,it was my dads 66 fairlane with 428 scj 4 speed neck to neck, but he done it to himself by building my car with @ the time 18 years as a mopar mechanic.Glad to see younger people into the big dogs instead of the ankle biting chihuahua's HONDA TOYOTA no bite just noise.
