Round 4...

Next up was the biggest round up to this point. I decided that running as fast as bonestock LS1's wasnt good enough.

I decided to port and polish a spare set of heads and install an off the shelf Comp Cam. I bought the heads used and they were already mildly worked. I had them flow tested before I started working on them and the results were 220cfm @ .550" intake and 185cfm @ .550" exhaust.

I did a mild port of the runners and bowls of the intake side, and I also gave a little polish to the exhaust side. This was my first time, so i know it looks like amateur hour.

I bought the IRS Valvetrain Package. This kit consisted of the following:

GMMP Dual Valve Springs (Good for .550" lift)
GMMP Retainers
GMMP Seats
CC Guide Plates
CC1305-16 Pro-Magnum Non-Self-Aligning Roller Rocker Arms 7/16" Stud

The rest of the valvetrain componets are:

Manley Raceflo 1.94"/1.50" SS Valves
134-7103 ARP Rocker Arm Studs, 7/16"
CC7808-16 Comp Cams Hi-Energy hardened pushrods, 7.200 (OEM Roller - Factory Length)
CC850-16 Comp Cams OE Replacement Hydraulic Roller Lifters
1428-16 K-Line 11/32 Valve Stem Seals, set of 16
Felpro .039" Head Gaskets

The cam I chose was an extreme energy XE230/236. The specs on this cam were as follows:

Intake Duration (281 @ .006 and 230 @ .050)
Exhaust Duration (288 @ .006 and 236 @ .050)
Gross Valve lift (w/1.5R's) (.510 intake and .520 exhaust)
LSA is 114.0
I had 4 degrees advance ground in. The cam is also billet, due to the regular cores being out of stock.

I also had pcmforless modify my computer. I also added a valve cover breather and a 160 thermostat (seen below)

At this point I had sold my HPP3 and the Granatelli MAF. I then headed back to the dyno. This time I went C&D Performance in Fall River. They used a dynojet as well. I was running really rich (11.0-12.4 A/F)and pulled the following:

351rwhp @ 5900rpm
340rwtq @ 4800rpm

I also went back to New England Dragway and made one run, which I spun the BFG DR's straight till 3rd gear:

60' 2.34
1/8 9.30
mph 83.84
1/4 13.88
mph 108.84

Disapponiting! It was 100% Humidity and rained 1 hour after my run.
