HISTORY OF MY CAR- For those who care
Unfortunately I have almost no pictures of my car in its initial condition. Stupid me.
I bought this car at age 16, fro ma recycler ad, for $600. I knew almost nothing about cars so i brought my friend and dad along with me. The body was fairly straight, minimal floor board and trunk rust. There was litterally nothing under the hood. I only had a windshield wiper motor, disconnected driveshaft, and rear end. the car was rolling on those same rims and tires you see now. My interior was stripped down to bare metal with two, unmounted camaro bucket seats.
First of all, I did some minor clean up and bolted the seats down. I still knew almost nothing. i removed the ugly exhaust, burnt wiring, etc. I cleaned up the inside pretty well and removed all my rust.
My car then went to an autowrecker (dad's client) and he put parts on from all his other cars to make a decent running 350, th350 trans and minor wiring. This was my first mistake, I should have gone high quality. However, I only paid $1750 for the WHOLE job, so i got a head start.
I drove around for a while, the took it to the body shop. The whole car was stripped, only to fing excessive bodywork hidden beneath the primer. It took literally a month of bodywork or more to make it perfectly straight. It was then prepped and painted Midnight Sapphire with metallic flake and clear coat. This is no cheap paint job, I believe it has a 10yr-15yr warranty. The Same guys completely did my interior. They did and EXCELLENT job. My interior looks flawless, it's jet black and smells like a new boat. My dash still need plenty of work however.
I finally got it out of the shop, aching to make more HP/torque. I saved up and bought a 625 demon carb and edelbrock RPM manifold to replace my retired q-jet and manifold. It moved pretty good with this, American thunder flowmasters, hooker headers, electric fan, and a couple minor things.
Well, there i was cruisn with my buddy, and suddenly.. I start to smoke and putter around. We stall and sit there in an intersection adjusting the carb to the pint where i can drive it home. Finally get it going. I get home and think about it over night. i wake up and try to tune my carb some more before school, and suddenly oil sprays out of the exhaust pipeS.
We hoisted out the engine, tore it down to the block, and sent it to the machine shop. A lot of thinsg were dirty (prob from lack of oil changes). However, I only needed a .20 bore and my rings were all intact. I'm guessing blown head gasket or manifold problem.
Right now I'm building the engine, back from the machine shop and ready to drop in. I did all the work myself except installing the crank, sam, rods, and bearings.
This is my first engine rebuild.. so HOPEFULLY it will be ok.
I know i know, i need more pictures. luckily ive been taken em liek cray. I promise when i get this thing running and washed, ill take interior, engine, and other pics.
